We have a 150ltr Dometic Tropicalised 3 way fridge. In up to 33 degree ambient temperatures, on gas or 240 volts, the fridge goes as low as -4 degrees. This occours on settings of 4 and above. We are currently in Karrartha WA. Anyone else had this problem? The fridge is defrosted regularly.
Hi Noel, according to my info, the temp of the fridge should be between 0c and-5c and the freezer up to -18c. depending on ambient temp. (and whats in it/how often is it opened etc) Your figure is what my fridge works on. Happy travels.

Just turn the thermostat control back a bit mate, that's what it's there for. Try 2 instead of 4 and see what happens.
Wind it back till it doesn't freeze but make sure that the lowest setting doesn't turn it off completely. Also check thet the freezer section is still cold enough and stuff doesn't start to thaw

hI Wombat, Mechanical thermostats are not acurate devices & the numbers dont realy mean any thing. For example I have a Waeco CR80 fridge in my van & the thermostat setting is 7 to get it to run @ 3Deg C, where others find setting 2 is ok.

This would be ok if you like frozen lettuce & tomatos etc.
The fridge cabinet should be between 0c and +5c. Never above 5c.
I find that if I have mine set to 0c in the morning (about #3.5) then later in the day allowing for openning a few times it will only rise to 4c - 5c. without further adjustments.

Whoops. getting my - and + mixed up. Delta18 has it the right way around 0 to +5c in the cabinet. is the recommended temp. Actually, i do try to get the temp. down to minus or less in the cabinet when free camping, as i don't use 12v when i travel and the fridge stays cold til i can get the gas back on, later in the day.

Good to see that you don't have the usual problem of the fridge not getting cold enough.
I use an indoor/outdoor thermometer to constantly monitor the temp & adjust thermostat accordingly.
To fix the freezing lettuce & tomatoes ... Put them into plastic containers with a bit of kitchen paper. Works for me.
I prefer tomatoes out of the fridge to ripen fully. Bit hard in the really hot though.
Of course I could loan you my family who constantly open the door then pause to think about what they want to get out of it. Eventually remember to close the door. No over cooling in my van fridge.
