hi all, i just felt the need to get this off my chest,, several years ago my very best mate of all time, you know the one you'd give your life for, well anyway he and i were suppose to head off to far north queensland on a fishing holiday, well to cut a long story short i couldn't end up going for 1 reason or other but said to my friend "you go and enjoy the trip and i'll go next time" as it tuns out there was no next time he had cancer and passed away while on holidays, he knew about the illness but din't want us to worry about him... Now it seem that another dear friend has lung cancer and isn't expected to live long,,,, why does bad things happen to good people.. i miss my friend terribly even though it's been a few years since he went to the big camping ground in the sky.... oh well,, to all live each day as it's your last cause someday it will be

Sorry to hear your news, but it so often happens that way. I lost my sister at 47 yrs old. Since then, I have decided every second counts. Do whatever it is that you want and don't put things off saying "when it gets warmer, cooler - when i have enough Money, time etc" do it now. Live life remember that email that has been circulating? Don't go to your death with a well preserved looked after body an......skid in on your feet, glass of red in one hand and a chocolate in the other screaming out - "what a ride"!!!! I love that email
Sorry to hear of your sad news. My brother in law died about 10 years ago with cancer and he told me go out and do what you want to do don't leave it til tomorrow. That is what we have alwas tried to do since then. Take care. Helena
We are all affected at some time by these illness'es which show no mercey or discrection, often with very little or no warning. We all need some support at some time, & when it comes from people that we haven,t met face to face, like the members on here, how much more comforting can it be. Many thanks to all for sharing.

Sad news indeed. I have always kept myself very fit, dont smoke and only drink socially (I am social most of the time).
But I know that old mister cancer can come along and say 'dont care how well you keep yourself - cop this!'. Not fair at all I suppose.
Here's hoping that the guys in the Atherton Tablelands have total success with that rain forest tree that cures some cancers on animals. I am in the prostrate cancer age range and I can tell you if it was going to do me in I would be first in line for human trials with the drug.
