Feeling nervous about setting off

We were nearly 12 months into our big trip when we abruptly curtailed our travels as Wendy's Mum went into hospital and after a very difficult couple of months passed away. Mum's estate is pretty well finalised and we're planning to dust off the van and head off again next week. However, I'm feeling a bit nervous about how we'll fit back into the nomadic lifestyle after nearly 6 months in a house again (albeit not our own house). You know how once you've stopped doing something it is never the same again?  Has anyone else had the same experience? Did you slip back into the caravan life like riding a bike, or did it seem a lot harder the second time around?

I can't wait to get back in the saddle after 2 years on site in Cairns.
While I didn't live in a house in that time, I was off the road, and therefore out of the hitch up and travel routine.
I'm sure it will come back as soon as you hit the road. That "free" feeling will kick in about 2 k's out of the driveway, and you'll wonder what all the fuss was about.
You have been through a lot in the time out, and I'm sure it was very hard work emotionally and physically.
Now you can just kick back and enjoy yourselves with all those loose ends tied up, and with all those family memories.
I'm sorry you lost your mother, but not making light of your loss, that's life as we all get older.
That's why we must make the most of every day, while we're still here.
Safe and happy travels to you. See you out there somewhere maybe.

Sorry to hear about Wendy's Mum.
Once you get back on the road - it will feel as though you have not had a break at all.

We are sorry to hear of Wendy's mother's passing, and our thoughts are with you both. At present, with Peter still working, we can only travel with holidays, and it is some time since our last trip, and today is Day 2 of our 5 week sojourn around Queensland, and no, we have not had any problems fitting back into the 'lifestyle' - can't wait 'til Christmas when he is planning on retiring and we can head off - hopefully - full time. Go for it, and just enjoy yourselves and relax. To be honest it will most probably be the best thing for Wendy. A trip we did after my Dad passed away was certainly 'healing' for me, just being out in the great outdoors and soaking up the serenity of the quietness of each day.
We are in 'sort of' a similar situation with my Mum in a nursing home - do we head off, or do we stay? Discussed it and decided that we would head off and if anything untoward did happen would head back home, even if it meant Peter would have to put me on a plane and he follow later. So to you both, safe travelling, and maybe one day we might run up against each other somewhere in the great outdoors.
