Hi. Spent 2 mths seeing tassie Mar-Apr 2010. Did 8500km overall. 1800km touring van.
Saw most of tassie. Lovely place. When going over on the boat take particular notice of the location and/or deck level prior to going topside. It may save some head scratching. Go to the info office on the boat and get Adventure Passes. Cost $109 each. With carefully selection of discounted offers, you will get you money back. Especially the Gorden River/ Railway package.

I cant wait to go to Tassy, plan on spending a few months down there over summer in a couple of years. I have been once for a week and couldnt get enough, so many thing I didnt get to see. So a few months this time should do it. I can see it becoming my fav summer hideaway.

It amazes me that people think they see MOST of tassie in 8 to 10 weeks, Ive lived here a life time (nearing 50) and havnt even touched the surface yet. As a keen photo buff with a love of the bush and 4 wheel drives you will have a great time but just wont see most.
One must do I think is a place called "The Wall" at derwent bridge, unfished work of art carved on slabs of huon pine, work is on going. Shows the mining history of the area
cheers

Wonder if " The Wall is on the " Adventure Pass as there is a charge....we had spent so much before calling in, we didn't see it and this was a few years ago, may be worth seeing now...much more to see.

Love Tassie, so much to see in a small package...loved the town of letterboxes they are amazing, a nice way to add interest to their part of the world.

Hi Gary and Kerry,
Have a fantastic time - Tassie is great! We were there five years ago only for two weeks but too much to see and do, so promised ourselves to go back for a longer time and taking the van across. Well that time is getting close now as we'll be leaving Perth in October and hope to be there during November and December (so may even see you there somewhere!). We'll have to look into the 'Adventure Pass' and do the Gordon River cruise again too - it was the highlight of our trip last time, as we had a gorgeous day with no breeze at all (the water was like glass).
Can't wait to get going...
Cheers for now.smile
