ROAD TO NEWNES

Hi all,

Has anyone driven the road to Newnes lately? Last time we tried it we encountered really bad corrugations which gave our little van a hard time. I understand that part of the road up to the new resort has been fixed, but I am wondering about the rest. Any help greatly appreciated.

Hi Buster and welcome.

I travelled down this road about 2 months ago - not with the van though - and I'm pleased we didn't take it too.

The road is even more corrugated than when we went down about 12 months ago.

I wouldn't be taking my van down there.

You can always leave your van at the Capertee Hotel and go down from there.  I'm told that the pub offers free camping but I'm not sure on the power and water situation, you would have to ask the publican.

Thanks for the advice. You have saved me a lot of pain (most of which would have been inflicted by the cheese and kissus).

Hi Buster,
Don't know if it's to late for you , but give Thomas a call at Newnes, he has the old hotel and cabins down there  63551247.

The road can be compared to some of the outback roads just take it slow, I have seen a few vans down there over the years.  I used to take our camper trailer down there, love the place.

Cheers & beers
