caravan floorplans

We are in the process of scouring every caravan magazine and attending caravan shows to find the right caravan floorplan for us. It's like taking a bit of this one and adding to that one and coming up with what suits us. We are looking at king single beds, ensuite at back, kitchen in middle and club lounge at front at about 23ft. As we will be travelling for long periods comfort for the 'bad back' is essential. Any clues as I find the forums such a valuaable arena for information as you guys have either done it or are in the process of doing it. cheers and happy vanning. confuse

When we started looking went to has many caravan sales yards has possible then went google searching at brand names most have a web site and large list of floor plans take your time and get it right , when you think you have the layout you want make sure you see the real thing and sit at the dinning table see if it work for you pretend you are living in the space

I have a similar layout minus the ensuite
what i like about it is that with the front dinette and side kitchen you are not crammped in the kitchen area, along with there is little need for anyone to get past you makes it safer.

cheers

Hi ..

With 23ft you have a lot to play with.

Do not overlook the option of recliner chairs.  Might be better than a 'Club lounge' if bad backs are a problem.

Make sure that you get a hydraulic jockey wheel rather than the standard wind up type.

One small thing I thought of... we have single bunk beds. I am on a Disability/Veterans Affairs pension for my "bad back", and I sleep better in that single bunk than I do in the Queen size at home. One drawback is though as its against the wall - i cant make it. That has to be management's job - i just get to wash extra dishes to make up....

Thanks Petengail, was about to mention the bed-making bit. One member of the team has to be fit enough to be able to bend over to make the beds against the wall. Modern fitted sheets etc help, but its still a hassle.
Island beds are easier for making, although take up more space... we've decided on an island bed this time (Friendlier too)

With our single beds, I have had to make my own fitted sheets as they are not a standard size, but single beds give you a much more open feel and makes it easier when one is a bad sleeper, like I am.
