Its been a while.

Hi all, Although I havent posted for some time, I have been watching posts being written and waiting to find myself a van. Excitment about my being able to get going has'nt wained until today...I bought a small pop top caravan. Now the excitment has turned to "what do I do next".  Can someone please let me know if this feeling is normal & will it pass...hmm evileye

Hi Colls,
all perfectly normal, and will pass as soon as you drive out the gate on your first trip.
I see that you are a solo, there are many on this forum that will have heaps of advice and suggestions to get you on your way.
What size van and tow vehicle have you got?

Its called nerves Colls, as Jandas Fun says as soon as you head off that will all disappear and you will love it.
I always get the same before a long trip and thats only in the car as haven't got my campervan yet, but once the motors going and the radios blaring I'm singing like the birds.

I remember when we brought our van, only a couple of years ago, a 1980 viscount poptop. We were so excited. Went to a couple of caravan parks, Lightning Ridge, Dubbo and on the way back from Dubbo saw these vans parked in Mendooran and thought lets look in there. Didn't realise there were free camping spots. We were hooked, parked our van up and stayed a couple of days. We only live about 120 km from Mendooran. Have been down there for many a weekend and had a good time. Met lots of people. June and July this year we spend in Queensland. Had to come home early because of a few plumbing probs at our home. Frost had burst water pipes in our ceiling luckily it was detected early and no big damage done. Anyway have renewed all old galvanised pipes with poly and now getting itchy feet. Where to now?? Sky's the limit !! I don't think the woopee!! feeling goes away, it's a permanent fixture now!! Enjoy!

Hi Colls... congrats on your new toy! smile

As far as what to do next, try it out on a little trip, maybe just a night or 2, fairly close to home. This will show you what you need to know, maybe what you need to have/buy, and its all good practice.

Its amazing how quickly you can get "hooked" on the travelling once you get over that first hurdle.

Very best wishes

Welcome to the fold. It's called excitement and enthusiasm, and mine are overflowing at the moment.
I'm keen to find a job and keen to hitch up again.
Doing the maintenance and preparations at the moment, as things get a little untidy when parked up for too long.
It's all sound, but just needs tidying up. Water tanks, scrubbing mold, pumping up tyres, repacking the car (shed), and all that jazz.
Let's do it!
