Back from Stanage -

Well we got up to Stanage (70 ks north of Rockhampton QLD,turn right 100 klms of dirt), the dirt road was just like driving down a highway, it had been recently graded and was in top condition.  The first few days were glorious - unfortunately the fish were not biting - neither inside the bay nor outside nor in the creek.  Then we had a little shower - 8 inches of rain in just over 4 hours - first time the van has leaked.  It was just overwhelmed, lots of others leaked too.  The next week the wind blew with squally showers, we decided to leave, then the rain started again.  The road was chopped up and slippery, glad to have 4wd wouldnt have wanted to come out in the old Commodore.  We decided to drive south till the sun came out or we got home.   Sunshine south of Gin Gin, so we headed for Inskip Point.  Had another week there only one good day, windy again.  Two feeds of whiting only, still something.  Just enough rain this morning so we have to dry the canvas out lol.  Stanage was lovely but as Bill said - take in lots of midgee repellent - and do phone and check on the condition of the road first.  We will probably go back again next year...
