No longer logged in

I always used to be already signed in when going to the forum (chosen via Favourites, not the link on the home page) but lately I have to sign in each time. Has something changed in the forum settings or is it my pc doing mysterious things?

try re saving to favourites maybe after logging in. I have mine saved to the easy access bar across the top if you follow what i mean and do not have to sign in each time.

I, too,am always logged in...however, occasionally, the same thing has happened to me. Go to the forum and am logged off. Have no idea how or why it happens, but it does. You are not alone on that one. Cheers Dellie

Happened to me a long while ago, but I haven't figured out why yet.  The same thing happened on every Forum I am a member of.
I go to all mine from Favourites as well.

One day OK, the next, have to log on every time.  To the best of my knowledge, I changed no settings anywhere.

I'd be glad of an answer too.

Cheers,
Sheba.

If you are a good PC user and you use the Browser,  Tools, Internet Option, Delete.... which you should do weekly, it will clear all your cookies, web form information, browser history, temporay files and some saved passwords.

This will be the thing that will require you to re-sign in. This may have been set up automately too.

also I have my laptop set to do auto updates in the early hours of the morning,
so i dont have to worry about it, so maybe that could be happening , or if your pc crashes , and you have to re boot, sometimes that cause it too, but who really knows with computers..

I was always logged on for a long time, today I had a look and lo and behold, had to log in again. Not sure what's happening. Anyway glad I have written logins and passwords for the forums in a notebook. Bank details - NO - have committed them to my head!!

The same thing happened to my facebook the other day. Have always gone straight in.
Lo and behold there was the log in page. Have no idea why and hasn't happened since.

I keep all passwords in a notebook too. I find if I'm using my own laptop all is ok but if I am somewhere else and need to use anothers computer my mind goes blank.
Have no idea why to that either.

For those who click the tick box to log on automattically, your passwords are storred in your browser.

To find them in Firefox go to Tools > Options > Security > Saved Passwords and you will see a listing of all the sites you have saved your passwords in the LH column and the user name uou have used for that site in the RH column. When you click on the Show Passwords button in the bottom RH corner you get a third column displaying the password you used. There will be something similar in IE.

If you are paronoid about your passwords you can password protect them. Go to Tools > Options > Security. In the Passwords section there is a tick box labelled "Use a master password." If you tick this you will be presented with a dialogue box to protect your passwords from being revealed.

For those wishing to have a backup of their auto logins and bookmarks you can use Firefox Sync. This is an add-on that stores the settings and things related yo your Firefox up in the cloud. I use it to sync the browsers on the various machines I use.

Well, blow me down. I decided to clear out my Cookies after reading above. Hadn't done it for a while.
It took out all my website addresses. Thats ok as I can remember them but now can't get into the greynomad site, the one I type in goes to a site I have never seen before.
I've tried it with and without the au.

Can someone please give me the correct address, Thanks.

Yep, I had that Pam but I have always come in the other way. greynomads first then come into here which means i didn't have this address either.

Just so happens when I connected to the internet for some reason it came first to here instead of bigpond even though I have bigpond down as my opening page.

Just a little advice from a PC expert. You can cure all PC problems by following this advice.
1. Turn off the PC.
2. Unplug the PC.
3.Open the window.
4. Chuck the offending PC out the window.
Ergo, no more plroblems.
Glad I could be of assistance.
