RE: PICK THIS PLACE

Thanks PT.

Can anyone identify where this dried up mud is?

A clue, if needed, is that there are 'local residents' who David Attenborough took an interest in.

I think Radar may be waiting to see if anyone else picks it.

Another clue - the National Park is one in WA.

Mt Augustus, Kennedy Range National Park near Shark Bay, WA.

Without your hint Cuppa and then with Google's help, reading about the bees, I would never of known about the area.

I do enjoy learning from other peoples experiences, I like it even more when I have been there, thank you.

Yes indeed, it is the Kennedy Ranges NP in WA.

The site where the Dawson's Bees nest is at the edge of that dried up shallow lake, would have been immediately behind where I was standing to take the photo.

The site was marked by a strip of pink flagging tape tied in a bush alongside the road driving in, a few hundred metres before the campground.

For those interested in these rare Australians here is a short video.

Your turn Radar.

Very interesting video - I was unaware of this breed of bees

Time for a hint.

The monument to the early Teamsters, is on a sealed part of the Old Coach Road about 160ks, 2 hours from Brisbane.

A short distance from a donation camp at a old railway station.

Hi Ralph, although I know exactly where this is I don't want others to demand that I put up my own photo. Seems this has gone a bit quiet of late, but someone may solve the puzzle. When I spent time there it was Zero degrees at night! Cheers

Hi Radar, I'm thinking it may be near Linville from your hint. We stayed at the camp near the Railway Station. Have done the trip up and down the Brisbane river.
Cheers.

Merriwa, we came back to the east on the back roads from Gulgong, a nice country drive.

Hi Whenarewethere, Merriwa it is. We came from Scone to Merriwa to Mudgee to Ilford to Portland as we were particularly looking at silo and water tower art. We'd been to Gulgong last year so didn't go there this year. Cheers.

It's nice country side around there & the back roads were a nice change, taking it a bit slower.

Where is this?

The hardest thing was holding the camera still enough, didn't have a tripod, while fighting off the crocodiles!

Over to you.

Some Clues:

It is not near a highway & is in SA.

The springs are maybe better known that these ruins of the homestead of the same name.

In a National Park.

Not Strangway Springs.

In SA, approx 80kms drive from the NT Border & 12kms from the springs of the same name where there is a campground & thermal pools for swimming.
