well I was laying under my van yesterday fitting new water tanks and got a call from some grey nomads staying at the stanley caravan park with tv reception problems. Drove the 20km to sort out there problems (just needed to make a patch lead), nice 5th wheeler, havnt they got some room in ythem. He was more amazed when he asked what the cost was and I just smile and said enjoy your stay in tassie. Hopefully one day carma will remember me or mine. cheers blaze
What a great gesture blaze you don't see much of that these days usually $70 just to ring the door bell..... now do you mind if I ask you what a 'patch lead' is and if its something that works anywhere....I'm not technically minded and as yet haven't tried my tv in the van but I am expecting poor reception, all I have is the tall plastic areial that came as part of my A'van camper so am interested in anything that will help when I set off early next year :)
Hi Gill The patch lead was to take the picture from the satalite decoder into a dristrubution unit of the 5th wheeler which then enable them to watch tv from one of the 3 locations they wanted to. I am still trying to nut out a system for on the road myself. My thoughts are that if I get reception, I may whatch a bit of tv, if I dont I will do something else, like goe for a walk. cheers blaze
Ha ha ha I didn't understand a word of that blaze but thank you for replying and I agree entirely with you if tv reception is bad its probably a bonus a walk would be much better
Oh I did gillyb. It was very clear. Blaze put a bit of thingee from the whatzit to the thingamajig that fixed the youknowwhat and all worked well in 3 different places.

Whats new in tassie today, havnt worked for a couple of days due to weather, daughter gets married on saturday. Things still to do, count the days left at work, finish the van off. cheers blaze
Love this thread, laughed out loud at most of the replies! Thanks for starting the idea
be nice if we could all raise a smile on someones face each day wouldnt it, nice and quite in my office. Got 5 young ladies (all just finished uni, all from Perth) staying with us ATM. They have been through uni together and very close (and did I mention noisy, in a nice way), they drew straws to see which 3 were to be the bridesmaids, so sweet I thought. They are all wearing the same outfits too. Not in shell shock yet cheers blaze
