Would save a lot of confusion Jim. Trouble is when the thread goes off topic, so might I also suggest that if that happens whoever posts "off topic" start a new thread.
In Ulladulla, South Coast, NSW............cicadas making a hell of a racket, not a cloud in the sky and around 24 degrees and just a gentle breeze..........in other words..............PERFECT.
The ones who commented on my spelling post didn't make any spelling mistakes, so there you go. Ylou don't need spell check. I don't think there is one but I always go over what I have written and correct before posting. Its only a problem if the sentence doens't make sense because of the spelling mistake, not all in general. Not having a go at general spelling mistakes, sorry. Hope you don't think that. There was a thread I read a while ago and by the end I was totally puzzled as to what the post was about. It just didn't make sense at all.

Some people don't know they're making spelling errors, and others get their fingers mixed up, which is my problem. I've been typing for about 50 years and the fingers still get it wrong. Most of the time I can decipher the phonetic literary code, and that's good enough for me. I do agree about the thread titles but we've been down that road before, and it didn't work then, and I'm sure we'll digress again.

No intention to nit pick, just a suggestion for the topic to be relevant to the thread for future reference. I deliberately did not quote any recent examples so as not to appear critical of those that posted them.

Jim
I reckon it was a damned good topic Jim, it gave us all a chance to hijack it. Thanks a bunch pal. LOL

It's all about the post or threat heading indicating what the topic is. It's a reference point. We then can choose if we want to participate in the forum or just read and move on, instead of having to read and analyse some cryptic heading which give no indication of the topic. Pretty simple really - headlines please.

Agree that the thread heading should reflect what the topic/thread is about. It probably would make the Forums Search Function work better.
However using the "Preview" link next to the thread heading brings up the first few lines of the post from which one can tell whether it is of interest to you, in most cases.
With respect to spelling/grammar, well most of us "live in glass houses" at times. Go with the flow or some members will be reluctant to post and we all could miss out on some very useful information.
Hijacking a thread is a PITA at times when you are interested in a particular topic, but then it is what happens in everyday conversations.
