I have received an email from Vic (VHW) stating that for some unknown reason he is having heaps of trouble and cannot see any posts on the forum, so if any post requires an answer from Vic please understand that he knows nothing about it.

Mysteriously VHW's profile has been deleted (?). I think Vic is logging in under the name "Vee Double U" now.
The problem may be related to his browser or firewall settings (a long-shot guess only) These may have mysteriously changed during a software update or upgrade perhaps.
OR... it could be a symptom of something more serious, eg malicious software (virus).
John (JRH) if you have his email you may wish to pass this on to him.
Jim
PS: another thought is to download and inastall another browser such as Firefox and see what that does.

It's soooooooooooo frustrating when your computer gets a mind of it's own, another option is to backdate your computer configuration to a date prior to when the problems started, this option is normally found in the control panel > recovery> backdate options (this works for windows 7 users, although xp users also have the same option in their control panel), just set the date back the date prior to having problems...........it's worth a try. It should fix things
Thanks to all and Cindy for your help and advice, I am now back on track as Vee Double U and VHW is out of the system.
I was contacted by Cindy with further advice she had received from activeboard, some of what I had tried before but didn't seem to work. However following this advice again and the first suggestion (plus some other fiddling I did on my setting but don't ask me what....I can't remember, mainly resetting things to my default settings which I had done before without success, lol). I did remove GN from my favourites and also Google as my search engine and tried Bing instead, and it worked. Went back to Google again and it worked also, so now back to normal and very gratefull to all.
In case it may help someone else, I'll repeat the advice I received from Cindy on behalf of the forum hosts;
"The first step is to please try clearing your browser's cache and cookies. Hopefully, that alone will solve the issues, but failing that there are a couple of initial steps we can take to narrow down what could be causing this:
a) Try posting from another browser on the same computer b) Try posting from another computer (any browser)"
I only needed to try the first step and (a) plus some other fiddling to get back to normal, if it was this (rather than my other fiddling), then this is similar to what Jim said (thanks Jim) although I did not try Firefox.
FYI and Thanks to and John for relaying my difficulties to you all, Vic
