In todays paper is an update as promised. In Rochester the Campaspe river is being monitored with public access restricted along the river area, particularly the Campaspe River Walk (which is directly opposite the Rochester CP on the other side of the river) Roads, generally to the south and east of Rochester, have already had some flood damage, particularly where water has flowed over some culverts resulting in the road washing away in sections. Flood waters are also impacting roads around Bendigo Creek to the west of Rochester. Warning signs and road closures have been placed where required. On Wednesday night the Rochester / Kyabram road was closed off due to water getting up around some houses and needed sandbagging, and is now only open to 4 wheel drive traffic. There is water across the Nanneella / Rochester Road and is to be travelled with care. Yesterday (Thursday) the water is receding but residents should travel with care.
Hope that helps "goinsoon", as long as no more rain before Xmas all should be safe. There is no menton of the Rochy CP in particular but it is directly opposite the river walk they mention earlier.

Would be great to meet you two, looking forward to it. If you are unable to stay at Rochester CP there are a few free camps around the Elmore area. I know there is one not far out of the Elmore Complex where you are going. Not sure of the name of it but it is a lovely treed spot near the river in a curve of the river. I haven't stopped there but have driven past when there has been lots of campers. Sure I saw toilets there as well. Will update this next week with any current news.

Happywanderer is probably referring to Aysons Reserve (Camps 4 & 5 Vic 475). A week or so ago it was reported in the Melbourne papers that campers where evacuated from there due to the rising Campaspe river. Don't know if the actual grounds were at risk or whether the waters were just cutting the road and isolating the area.
Great spot, very large area that is just around the corner from the site of the 14th National Caravan Rally. I would imagine that it would be packed in the few days prior to the start of the rally at the end of December.
Hopefully things will dry out by then, though still raining in Melbourne today.
Yes thats the one Ron and Shirley. Its very cold and windy here today. Have had to shut windows and get back into winter clothes. If no more rain it should all be dried out by end of december.
