Currently in Manjimup (south west WA) and attended the Cherry Harmony Festival last weekend. Friday afternoon golf tournament yielded runner up prize - local cherries and wine. Saturday was the main festival - cherry pip spitting competition, cooking demonstrations with local produce, fashion parade, wood chop, stalls, street theatre ..... lots and lots of festival type stuff. Sunday was the long lunch - 11:00 for canapes and champagne then 5 more courses lasting through until nearly 6, all with matching local wine. The setting in a cherry orchard was magnificent, the weather a sunny 29 degrees was perfect and the wine and food were fantastic.
Would definitely recommend the weekend to all nomads out there, although if you want to attend the lunch make sure you book early as it fills up pretty quickly.
You may well be in the only dry spot in the whole country, and you are having fun too!! Sounds fantastic! Keep us posted on all the other great little places you find?
We enjoyed a stay in Manjanup about 2 months ago at a very nice caravan park just north of town. Hylda was especially pleased when the lady in charge brought around a plate of scones, jam & cream to welcome us. Would thoroughly recommend the place & also it was the cheapest caravan park we found in the area during the school holidays.
Cheers Jon

No. Though Fonty's is in a lovely setting, they had a price rise just for school holidays so it was out of our price range at the time. The park we stayed in was Warren Way Caravan Park.

Manjimup is a breautiful area of the South West, also not far from Manjimup is Nannup, a sleepy little village on the Blackwood river and the council CP there is very good.
Another place not too far from Manjimup is Balingup ,well worth a visit if only to walk around the biggest arts and crafts shop in WA, the Birdwood winery is also worth a visit especially if you like a fruit wine, but not for the magic mushrooms hey.LOL

Yes, we also stayed at Warren Way, and not only got a lovely plate of freshly baked scones and jam and cream, but also a bag of freshly picked apricots from the local orchard. The owners really make an effort to make all their customers feel welcome, they also do home cooked meals on Friday and SUnday nights and not only that they sell the cheapest fuel in town (if you don't take the supermarket discount into account).
