Sorry guys, she's at my daughters, so can't get a photo of the hinge at this stage. May go out tomorrow to do that.
She's a Leisurelite..a Canadian brand, and about 10 years old. I've never seen another one.
We tried a wide rubber strip with a sticky back, along the hinge, but as I got out west in the dust last year, it just came unstuck. I guess it needs to be something flexible as the hinge still has to work.
lyn-n-ken, yes the mattress has been wet a couple of times, and I had to air it. It was the original mattress, so wasn't worried about eventually having to throw it away.
I bought a new mattress recently amd covered it with a fitted protector, then a vinyl protector on the under side to keep it dry.
My thought today was to ask the guys at Bunnings. I might try that tomorrow too.
My thoughts were to make use of a rubber strip as you have described. This still may be a solution but arranged a bit differently, perhaps a strip inside running the width of the trailer. It's hard to tell without seeing it.
Can the hold-down clips on the lid be adjusted? If not sure maybe include a piccy of one of those too.
Clark Rubber will most likely have a better range of rubber strips than Bunnings but a little more expensive. Price shouldn't be a problem as you will probably only need a small amount. check their website for your nearest store.
Best we look at the pictures before going any further.
Hi Beth54 I read that you put a strip of rubber on the outside of the hinge & it came unglued, what about removing the hinge & placing a rubber or canvas strip on the join then screw the hinge back on top......

Thanks guys. I should have thought to do the photo's before starting this thread. In fact, shouldn't start a thread at night when brain not in gear properly.
So much rain here, I can't see me getting those photo's anytime soon.
Maybe wait until the rain subsides and start a new topic when it does as this one will probably be buried under a bunch of newer topics by then. No doubt you've got the tarp over it in the meantime.
Yes, you're right Jim. What a mess here in SE Qld. I live on a hill, so I'm right, but I can't get to my daughter's place now anyway. There's a swollen creek between us. Their house is fine though, thank God.
Yes, they have it covered for me.
I'll start a thread again later. It's not as if I can go anywhere in Gypsy for awhile yet anyway.
