I cant believe Rochester is under, I was only there two weeks ago and the caravan park was getting back on its feet after being flooded in December, gosh all the shops I used when I was there are all flooded, I saw a clip on TV and I felt so sad for them, the people in Rochester were so warm and welcoming to us caravanners.

It sure is a strange country. Sitting here with helicopters going overhead, sandbagging (ses filling sandbags) half a block away from me. A hot sunny day with so much humidity its unbelievable.
For anyone wanting to know where its flooding go to the Shire of Campaspe website. They have a flood map up there, My street doesn't even show on the map so safe here.
I'm in the East, my daughter in the west on the other side of the Campaspe but safe as in line with the evacuation centre two streets from her.

The really stupid thing the SES has set up is the evacuation centre is on the other side of the Campaspe from the town, hospital and most of the residential. If it did get serious how the hell would everyone get over there if the only bridge went under.
Warren Street down by the port is flooded now so that only leaves the bridge in Ogilvie Ave and the water is just under it now, with flooding in the houses both sides.

No photos welcome. I'm not a rubber necker, they have enough to contend with down there with the rest of them driving back and forth over the bridge just to have a look, the police trying to move them on so the ses and army can do their job.

Get ready guys because all the flood-water from west of Toowoomba in Qld runs into the Murray-Darling & there is a sea up here at the moment.
I was in Mildura for 2 months & the water level is already high there to the point that the weir was removed & the water height has risen higher than the pool height before.
They are already sandbagging at Wentworth & I suspect that town will go under once all the water from Qld & NSW get into the Darling proper.
All the inland roads were cut at somepoint on my way back to Qld just after Xmas, so had to eventually go out to the coast to Grafton & wait for a week before I could get back to Qld & that was only a window for 1 week before it was all closed again, including the Pacific Hwy, so check with RAC Road Closures site before travelling as the situation is grim everywhere & getting worse in a lot of places.

They rubber neckers have been a problem in Brisbane surrounds too. It's being said over and over on TV to stay away, but they still ignore it.

They've also had trouble with scumbag looters and scammers, looking to make a buck out of people's misfortune. The mayor of Ipswich said if he caught the looters, he'd use them as flood markers!

I would've like to have seen the river itself, not anyone's tragedies. But they still need people to stay off the roads so the necessary vehicles have access to where they're needed.

My son shot footage of the river near him, but he's not in the suburbs.

Haha welcome, Can't see anything from my front door except my front lawn, no sign of flooding out there. If there was I would be packed and running for my life.

I needed to go over the campaspe to my daughters today to take her medication to her at work which is over in Moama, so latest update. One lane each way all the way along Ogilvie as sandbagged to the centre of the road both ways, houses and low lying area on the other side of bridge all under water. Lots of police, ses and other workers plus lots of sight seers making a nuisance of themselves. Level of water under the bridge is so close any more I think I would have been driving through it.
Renee, daughter, went to work the Warren Street way this morning. She said water both sides of the road but actual road is elevated so no problem getting through. Warren Street bridge still open at that stage, not sure about it now as news did say it might close.
Crossing the Echuca/Moama Bridge very high river level and low lying area under water, caravan parks could be in trouble just across the bridge when it gets higher.

Latest news on the Murray, water is starting to back up because of the flow from the Campaspe, expecting to raise level by about 2 metres in the next 12 hours flooding public areas. Renees boss lives out opposite the boat ramp heading towards Echuca Village, She is really worried they will be flooded during the night as the river is already at record levels.

We still have a couple of days of uncertainty for those close to the river.

Same here Beth. they are a damn nuisance. Just going around in circles from one roadabout to the other so they can drive back and forth, plus al lthe others on foot standing on the bridge while emergency workers are having to work around them.

The looters and scammers up in Brisbane have been a disgrace.

Roads around Rochester will be closed for the next 3 days at least.
My son and family are intending to head home to Qld in next couple of days, rang this morning to work out the best way through to here on their way up. My gardener said no way through Rochy, they are advising all to come this way through Shepparton.

I've had to check out the map to find where all these places are. I'm only a little familiar with the areas of Bendigo and up to Swan Hill and Nyah, where Dad came from. And my daughter-in-laws parents live in Sunbury, where I've been.

It's all such a tragedy. I hope your daughter and family stay safe, Marj.

Beth, she's pregnant with her first baby and her hubby is down in Adelaide with work so she's on her own except for her Rotty pup. But she's ok and still able to get to Moama over the main bridge. She has the availablility of two cars, her own wagon or her hubbys Nissan patrol. So she can get away if need be but at this stage still we are both quite a way from the flooding.
You wil lhave to get your map out again Beth. There's flooding out at Lockington with water up to the roofs of houses. Also Mitiamo has now got flooding as well as Wycheproof (love that name) and Warricknabeal. All that is heading towards Horsham where they are experiencing a 1 in 200 year flood.
When will it all end and where the hell is all this water coming from.

Hi Pam. I wouldn't think so. I think its flowing in the opposite direction but how would anyone know at the moment.
I think the lockington one was caused by the channels breaking their banks. Thats what I was told anyway.

The Campaspe has gone down a bit, the sandbags have been removed from the middle of Ogilvie Ave, main road.
The Murray is rising due to the backflow caused by all the other rivers and channels running into it. They are still taking sandbags away from up the road so must be working in the latest danger spot.
Just have to keep our fingers crossed that it doesn't cause too much damage.

Two years ago at Easter we camped in the campground just behind the town in Horsham, the river(Wimmera) was just a muddy expanse - we walked over to look at the beautiful new houses in a street along the river - those people must be sandbagging like crazy now - but the whole of the state needs water - just not this much.

I wish them all well, from up here in waterlogged Queensland.
