Well, one of the funniest was when we were in WA - heading into Eighty Mile Beach, there had been quite a lot of rain at the time. Anyway, as we slowed down to make the turn off the highway - there, right beside the entry gatepost squatted a young woman, skirt right up around her waist, in full view of anybody passing on the highway or turning into the driveway - which by the way is about 9k long. She was in a magna with some other young people and they turned up in the campground later that night, they were the talk of the camp I must say.

When I first started driving semi's . Pulled up at the meccarno set at Villawood - a s/west suburb in Sysney . I am driving an old 62 Leyland Super Comet - with 4000 chooks onboard . A Royal blue Mercedes pulled up beside me . Good looking blond driving . One of the chickens lets fly - All ove the bonnet . Blondy gets out . comes up to me & says - One of your chickens has s*#t on my car . I get out , walks back a bit toward the car , looks up at the chooks . 2,000 chooks this side , listen lady , you show me which chook it was and I will chastise it . All this time everybody around us ear laughing their heads off & even the cars in front aren't moving , as this bird-parden th pun wants th chook that did th darstadly deed . Well she settles down a bit , got back in th car to go - bluuurt on th roof - she did not see that one as she drove off. Richo
A couple of years ago we were up in NT in a NP and the ranger advised us to go to avery secluded spot, bit of a long walk but there was a water hole at the end of it, nobody around so I strips off and in I go while Mrs W keeps watch, had a nice swim around and then Mrs W shouts out there is somebody coming, well I was out of the water real quick, managed to get my underpants on but I was still wet, the couple had a chat and were on there way, so we returned to the camp site, just getting ready for nibbles and a drink when a couple walked around the van with thieir drinks & chairs and said we just came to see what you look like with your clothes on. (gues who had the red face) wait till I see that ranger again he told everbody about that secluded spot.
PS I do have a picture of me swimming in that water hole but I am NOT going to post it here.
Realizing that if you didnt take the (full) toilet roll off the holder, by the time you got to your next stop it would unroll and neatly fold on the floor. Was really funny when it happened.
Well we pulled into our first free camp today, in camps 5 about 30km west of Horsham. Went to turn around and vehicle and van bogged to the axle, had to unhook the van and winch the vehicle out and then turn around one winch out the van. This is all on the first day on the road and our first free camp. But sitting here in my short, posting online, sipping on a coffee after steak and saland for tea. So there you go, a laugh at my expense cheers blaze
Hi wombat All it did was raise a bit of sweat and a smile. It was one of those places you would sugest to someone not to turn there but do it yourseelf because it didnt really look soft. Certainly see where the flood waters have been around horsham cheers blaze still close to 40 degrees my wife reckons but I think it cooled right down, could go and have a look in the van but then I would have to move
Had another time - camping in the Warrmbungles (NSW) - nice camp - concrete toilet block with showers etc - and a short walk away two lovely wooden loos, with a fantastic view - it was about 5am just light - so thought I would wander over and admire the view while "doing my business" - trouble was some one else had the same idea - sitting there, trousers down around his ankles - we both just burst out laughing - but I did walk back and use the other toilet block.

I've had several funny moments..mostly at my own expense.
This one was many years ago, before Port Douglas was THE place to be. We'd stopped to have a bit of lunch near the beach, and I went to walk across a 'dry creek bed' only to find it was pumice floating on the top of very stagnant disgusting water! I went down down down while the rest of the crew stood there p***ing themselves laughing at me!
Over 10 years ago I was on a tag-along tour. Shortly before setting out I had had a fall and was still suffering from some minor injuries on the trip. We camped one night in gravel pit on the side of the road in Arnhem Land and I slipped and fell on loose pebbles much to the amusement of my fellow travellers. (I was accused of not being entirely sober at the time but that's another story!)
Several days later while travelling between Katherine and Kakadu we stopped to allow one of our party to adjust the load on his trailer and I was helping him. An occy strap I was holding broke and I fell again. When we reached the turn off to Jim Jim Falls the whole convoy pulled up and insisted on a photo of me in front of the Jim Jim Falls sign.

I can sympathize..I have a reputation for falling down and always get 'drunkard' comments!

I have to confess there was a small element of truth in the allegation!
i do remember travelling in the outback once near mt isa if my memory serves me right here we were blasting along thehighway in our landrover at the time daughter heidi was only 3
all of a sudden out of nowhere comes streaming across the road an EMU, yep you guessed it we hit that bird the car went thud the bird kept running amazingly to the side of the road and was hopping and skipping around .
Dear little heidi yells out daddy hit BIG BIRD ,guess thats what ya get when ya watch sesame street aye .

heheheh :)
hehehe That reminds me of a story my ex told me.
There was a fly pestering him as he was driving in the outback, as they do. He started swiping at it saying 'p***off fly!' After a little while it disappeared. Then a little voice pipes up from the back, 'here's the p*** off fly Daddy!'
Guess the ranger was out to make a quick buck Wombat. Pity about the pic that we won't get to see. Seems you can't trust anyone........not even rangers!
Lol. That must have been embarassing! Gravel is hard enough to walk on at the best of times. An element of truth? Lol. What's a little nip or two between friends?
