lucky townsville spared from any major damage.we've had no power for 36hrs and don't know when it will be restored.council will be busy cleaning up for months to come. lot of camping areas wiped out hope they're operating by winter for the southerners coming up. wouldn't like to go thru another cyclone like this one.sad thoughts for people of cardwell and tully,both beautiful places rocan
The cyclone was not as bad as expected but if you live in the area then ANY cyclone is bad, don't know what QLD has done to deserve the treatment they have been dished out this year, feel real sorry for all Queenslanders.
I lived in the Town & Coiuntry park for a while & it always fills with grey nomads each winter, I saw it on the telly yesterday and it was devastated with falling trees, the management will have their hands full sorting it out but the will get it right in time.
Something about Townsvillites & Nth Qldrs in general, they always manage to get it done in a timely manner....

The Cyclone was has bad has what was predicted , the big hit was Tully area which was a Cat 5 , Townsville received about Cat 3 , it was just lucky for Townsville and Cairns didn't get hit by the eye much more to damage in those city if it had
So true Brickies ...if the cyclone has hit either townsville or cairns would possibly have been large lost of life and devastation on the ground that would have been not anything we have seen in australia before .... tully and cardwell and all the smaller places round that area have it bad enought it will take years to rebuild there lives ...... and now the lost of one life and two missing .... how many would it have been in the bigger places .....

Jim nature is amazing tool it is the right time of year for flora to regenerate we went north after larry what a mess 1 year on looked a picture again, was good to see with the new building codes how well the new building fared we have come a long way have relations in Ingham and Townsville and all are fine they all have tree damage to their yard and can't believe how well the house stood up to the winds
yes us guys from down south are seeing picture's on the Tv we sit there and think O.M.G we were there and it was so beautiful but now look at it. what has Queensland done to have all this devisation this year the floods now this. our thoughts go out to all we should all head up there this year if we can't help they could do with our holiday $$$$$$

Thanks Wombat. We mustn't forget the Victorians and SA with their floods or WA with the fires there. Lucky that Sydney and NSW didn't get any with the soaring heatwave they had. The way the weather has been lately not just here but around the world, makes you wonder what on earth is happening. Is it a cycle or global warming?
