There is an unofficial forum meet up this weekend in Pinjarra Caravan park if you are interested, see the Get Together section on this forum, be a good way to meet some fellow grey nomads, a few from this forum going.
Saw a documentary about this 84 year old on Australian story who went around Oz on his motorcycle, very inspiring!
Hope you enjoy our company and look forward to hearing about your experiences on the road past or future,
Regards Vic

Hi Phil Welcome :) I'm fairly new here too and am setting off on my first trip middle of next month, (apart from my maiden voyage which was only 1 week in Mildura) I'm hoping to be away at least 6 mnths, heading north from Melbourne hopefully to spend a warm winter somewhere. I have an Avan Sportliner which is heaps big enough for me and my car to pull along. I'm hoping that I'll meet some of the travellers on this site along the way :)

Hi Milo, interestin site, like the look of the trikes, but those teardrop campers are pretty ugly lol....they also quite heavy... Phil..
You rig looks great Phil, but not for me! I like my comfort these days. I couldn't afford a caravan, so reckoned this is the next best thing. I tow with a Hyundai i30, hence the need for a lightweight camper. Only 180kg! It'll be a bit heavier soon though, as my son is fitting a fridge and gas bottle to the draw bar soon.
I've looked at those Teardrops a few times. I reckon I'd feel like I'm in a coffin!
Mornin Beth, not to many ladies are goin solo [long term]on bikes, i guess theres no doors t lock!! lol, & not much room for all their cra. i mean bags! & aint that a can o worms lol Usually in van, but its somthin i have always wanted t do......
Hey - good to see (read??) a new face on the solo site - I'm in SE Qld - heading off next Tuesday for my first solo trip towing small van - heading to high country Victoria (Porepunkah - near Bright) - have travelled all over this country - but never on my own. Bit apprehensive as you can imagine - but my saving grace is that I know exactly where I'm going. Looks like a good unit you have there - have seen small camper trailers made for bikes on our travels - some not much bigger than your unit.
Anyway if you get over here to the East - let us here in SE Qld know - have a get together somewhere.

Just read your profile Jules. Good for you! I've lived in SE Qld most of my life, and was out Boonah way a couple of weeks ago with family.

Wouldn't get me back on a motorbike for quids mate! My son took me for a ride a few years ago, thinking he'd show me how great it was! I told him he was lucky I didn't throw up down his back! I was so sick by the time we got home.

Happy travelling & keep smiling
hi c, shaved the noggin so no need for a h/dryer!!plenty of room though, 1 king single swag , 2 long [ 6 inch high ] plastic containers for clothes, [ no crushing ] 1 plastic container with MInIMAL kitchen/food etc. 1 folding chair, thats it.. total weight about 180 kg.......
Welcome pws25. I've seen a few motorbike camper trailers around the traps. One was at Bunbury, others in Cairns. The motorbike is fine when the weather is, but not so fine in the rain and bug plagues. Changes the diet somewhat. No matter how you go, go safely. I'm tipping the Kimbeley won't dry out until May or June. There's another low heading to the east coast as well. I left Cairns in October before the wet season and the predicted cyclones arrived. It seems I did good. I've sat through cyclones and the warnings and watches in Broom and Cairns, and I don't think I could handle the anticipation this year. Stay safe.

Gday Phil & welcome to the forum. We are doing the same as you and waisting a bit of time till the rains & heat let up a bit up north of WA.
We spent 2mths enjoying Margaret River then just spent 2 months in Wanneroo Perth & are now in New Norcia about to head off to a property 70km north of Sandstone to look after a homestead on a 600,000 acre cattle station for 2 weeks while the owners go away to get hitched (as long as the wet weather lets us get there), then we will make our way north via Monkey Mia, the Coral Coast & then on to the Kimberleys, so we may see you in our travels somewhere.
Hope all goes well for you.
Cheers Jon

G'day everybody. I'm pretty new to this too. I've just bought my new home and I'm currently doing a sort of 'shake out' trip while I figure out the intricacies of living in it. This trip is just a small circle from Canberra to the southern NSW coast then back to Canberra around mid-March. Then I'll be heading for warmer climes - much warmer. Hope to see some of you on my travels.
