Geeze what happened before.   I was in the middle of posting,  and the site went down.   Kept getting told to try again in 2 minutes, gave up and went to bed for a while.
I really hate it when that happens.

Hi Sheba, Had the same trouble wasn't trying to post just browsing kept trying but like you gave up in the end. Not many new postings at the moment is everyone away. Helena.

That happened to me last night. Had logged off for tea, tried to get back on. Message said try again in 2 minutes etc. Tried for half an hour off and on. Nothing, so gave up and found it worked just before I went to bed late.

I am not away just back at work. Hard to keep up when not on everyday.

Welcome Relaxblueskywater!

Its a difficult question to answer... I'm not very computer-savvy so I started off just reading, then experimented by clicking on things to see what happened. Try it, you never know what you might find.

For example, if you click on "List all Users" you'll see whos reading the forum at that time. Very interesting... people from all over the world read our little forum! But its a reminder to not give out personal details, and to be polite as per the Webmasters request in her "Welcome to this forum"

To post on a new topic, click on "Start a new topic".... better than changing topics in the middle of a thread.

Feel free to ask questions... the only stupid question is the one you dont ask!

Also if you click on The Grey Nomads Forum up the top which then gives you just the categories, you can then scroll down to the bottom without opening it, and see who is online and what they are reading. I found that one by accident not long ago.
Just keep clicking on things relax..... and reading all you can. If you want to reply to what someone has written you can click on quick reply at the bottom and away you go. Or as Gerty says to start a new topic of your own, top right hand corner just under your name, click on that Start your own Topic and go from there.

Also, if you're looking for some specific Info. you can click on the Search button up top, and type in what you're looking for, then hit search.  EG.  Ice Cream Recipes.

Try that one, and you'll get the idea.

Has anyone noticed from today the updated threads are highlighted a darker black now in the title till you open and read. Wasn't like that before, they were al lthe same with a tick in the updated ones.

It just looks like a modification in the format of the site.
Who knows what the administrator has up her sleeve in the form of presentation. I thinks it's an improvement.
I don't think the actual function of the site has changed.
