trial run

had our first trip in the new van last week, 6 days just to try everything out.  Enjoyed every minute and can't wait for the house to be sold so that we can go full time.  Only had one problem and that was the road from Longreach to Dalton, has to be the worst road I've travelled on.  The $500,000 that Anna Bligh waisted on the Traveston Dam fiasco would have gone a long way to improving this stretch of road, no wander there are so many accidents.

G'day Stan, I saw your other post regarding fuel consumption; 16lt/100k towing the 5th wheeler is a pretty good return considering the weight and drag involved.
What is the engine capacity of the Defender?
cheers

Travelled that road last year, Its like it all the way to Cloncurry, a roller coaster ride & the south bound lane I think is worse.
Just about to head up that way again in a couple of weeks.

Hi ozi2. Believe it or not, the Defender is only a 4 cylinder 2.4 ltr engine, a power chip will take it from 360 nm to about 440 nm. On a run without the fifth wheeler it uses only 9 litres per 100kl but the regio is only half that of a V8 and the service intervals are every 20,000 kls and there are Landrover dealerships Australia wide. You get 3 years roadside even for tyres and if you get bogged. Best of all, the defender is a go anywhere vehicle and the new one is very comfortable.
