It's so sad to see such devastation and loss of lives.
I really can't help but think Mother Nature has been giving us hints that we just can't keep taking and not expect consequences for our actions, it's just so very sad that so many lives are/have been lost in such a short period of time especially in the pacific region.
I'm not a greenie, but the recent events have certainly made me rethink how I can do my bit not just for my fellow man, but also for the enviornment.
i find my self turning off after awhile, not tha im being nieve or anything its just i find this kind of thing difficult to watch, anything like this same when 9/11 happend after awhile i just couldnt watch the news or tv for a while.. just too devestating..
I don't think any country will be thinking nuclear energy is the way to go after this firefly. Heard on the news this morning the german govt made an announcement they were closing theirs down after seeing what happened in Japan.
I can't understand why the Govt haven't sent army trucks in to bring out all the folk who are wandering around the ruins with just the clothes they stand up in and haven't eaten since the quake with no water etc. In a country like that with all the modern technologies they are running out of fuel. Not even enough for people to put enough in their cars just to go a couple of hundred ks down the road to get away from the danger zone.
In Chch and Qld the aid workers where there within hours getting relieve centres set up and feeding the people. These people in Japan are wandering arouond in shock and no one bothers with them except a few reporters from TV stations from around the world. This happened last Friday, wasn't it? Its now Wednesday, other than the people they are still finding alive up to today which is miraculous why aren't the rest in some shelters with clean clothes being distributed and food being prepared for them. It's not like the whole of Japan has been destroyed. I have googled and studied the maps several times and there is so many more towns further south that are no where near where all this happened, They must have stock, produce, food, portaloos, clothing/charity stores etc. Why aren't they all in gear doing their bit.
And why do the Japanese wander around calmly like nothing has happened. The reporters keep saying they don 't seem to get stressed about anything. Do the Govt give them a chill pill every day.
I just can't work it out, such a modern advanced country and they are not there for their people when they are needed.
