Anice crayfish would be nicer (local name for southern rock lobster), you will enjoy yourself. We will be back home for chrismas, heading home to do our annual cfamily chrismas camp and heading back this way somewhere, so if you are in the north west around stanley from december/jan let us know. Lots of free or cheap camping cheers blaze
Just a tip tho, xmas and school holidays are extremely busy ,and camp spots can fill up well before so I would recommend that you get to where you intend to spend christmas at least a week before to avoid disappointment.
When will all these boat people stop coming, and pinching "our" camping spots, "our" fish, etc.
I am led to believe that some of them actually speak English!
Have a great time near that river Ma.
We usually spend Christmas up at The Bay of Fires at Cosy Corner North.
The year just gone, we met up with two lots of "foreigners" looking for somewhere to spend Christmas. Had a ball with some very nice folk.
The caravan parks are indeed very busy over this period and the locals tend to tow their rigs into place about a week before Christmas and leave them locked up.
Safe travelling
Dusty
PS. Photo was taken at Swimcart Beach, Bay of Fires previous year.

Well Dusty, cobber, buddy, mate, old pal..............I've been practicing my Aussie...........how am I doing so far.........
Promise not to take too many fish, there's only one of us that fishes and he doesn't take any more than he wants for dinner, it's catch and release for him.
Thanks Gary and Kerry for the tips re: camping. Will make sure we have our itinerary fixed up pretty soon and make the appropriate bookings.
I'm soooooo excited I could almost..................hmmmm..........better left unsaid......
Would be great if we could catch up too Richo.

Can we come too? Please? If we promise to be good?
Seriously, we've been debating whether to go to Tassie or NZ this summer, and after the Earthquakes, we are thinking much more seriously about our lovely Tasmania. Yes I know NZ tourism needs support, but honestly earthquakes are way too scary for me.
Will be taking a big interest in all your comments and tips about bookings etc. Thanks!
You'll love the litle island. I had 3 weeks there a few years ago, could have done with 3 months but at the time I was traveling in my own car and stopped in bed & brekkie accomodation.
Well done Ma can we come tooooooo, have a question does it cost a bunndle to take 4x4 and van over on boat ? we have always wanted to see that lovley part of the world
Have lots of fun and good fishing

Google spirit of tasmania and measure your rig and then you can work out the exact cost remembering that threre is a peak and off peak and specials if you keep you eye open cheers blaze
If you just follow the prompts on the Spirit of Tasmania site then as blaze said you can work out how much it will cost. Keep in mind that if you decide to go the earlier you get your money down the more secure your booking is.
We tried to go over last year but there was no room available for our size set up on the dates we wanted to go, that's why we got in early this year.
Also they tell me that they offer so many "accommodations" at a certain price and then when they are sold out the go up to the next level of $$ for the same thing and then again when that lots sold out. They can't loose.
Good on you Ma. Some times you just have to "make things happen". I'm off to Tassie at the end of this month. Now I'm NOT dampening the spirit, {as I think this is a GOOD thing},But as a few of you know... my beautiful sister is very ill. Her one wish in this life is to go to Tassie, soooooo, that will happen for her. We will have a hire car, stay in motels, where ever...whenever...she wants. The thought of going to Tassie is wonderful medicine for her. I know its not a big dream, but its Her dream. I know she and I will love it. Any advice from the forum on motels, or the need to book? Cheers Dellie
Might see you there Ma , we are going 1stJan for 3 weeks.
Add me to that list FF
We will be staying at Sheffield for the Aussie kayaking championships ,
which will be held below Lake Rowallan , then Forth for the Combined
Aust/NZ High Schools Kayaking championships . Then we will wander
around for another couple of weeks, before we come back to the north
Island . Still trying to work out how to get the boats over cheaper than,
nearly a $k . Yes a grand just to tow a trailer with a couple of kayaks on it.
But I am not going to let that spoil my "overseas" trip
Richo
Chuck all ya camping gear in the trailer and call it a camping trailer buddy, apparently they get the travel subsidy just like caravans.
I recently did the same travel calcs and am going to wait till i get my new trailer and get it all loaded with tentage and camp stores, wala it becoms a camp trailer and is heaps cheaper...
Hoo Roo Happy Days
