Hi Folks ..

It seems there will always be certain problems we all face when we use computers .. anything from standard operating problems through to new and old viruses raising their ugly heads.

Along with that are problems brought about by newer technology .. which claim to make our lives easier ..

I'm thinking if I need some help/info that others could also .. so will kick this off !

Malware/Spyware:

Malware & Spyware will not always be identified by an installed Virus Protection that you might have running, but there are freeware programmes out there that can and will .. so look into that before spending big pennies on some fancy software .. regardless of its 'good' reputation ..(search on Google)

I recently acquired (got infected) by "AntiMalware Tool" .. It tries to give the impression that Windows has found a whole heap of virus etc .. on my computer. It also goes further to get you to purchase a 'fix' so that you can remove all the problems .. In reality, you've been infected by only piece of Malware .. Antimalware Tool. .. ignore all its BS to sell you its remedy .. send no personal details at all !

Was able to remove the problem .. but to do so required one to kill the operating process from memory first .. then download (from internet after searching on Google) a file called "rkill" .. 

Then find someone who has the capacity to search (files) for anything relating to antimalware and remove them .. (Include the Registry)

After a 'cleanup' of my system, a switch off (for a minute then a switch on (not a reboot) I'm back in opertion ..

I hope this may be something informative to any that read it ..

ALSO .. my question is:    I was still left with a few files that I was unable to remove .. on their own they are useless, but I dont want them on my system.

I'm able to modify/remove the 'attributes' which usually allows me to delete the files .. but not with these.

It could be that I'm not overly familiar with the workings of windows7 64 bit too .. I'm simply told when I go to delete the files, that I must remove the "write Protection" .. I am operating as Admin too.

I'm running windows 7 64 bit .. and have tried anything I could find on the internet that might help ..  It appears that removing 'write Protection' from various parts of windows7 is a seemingly common problem ..

Any suggestions would be apreciated ..

While not a comp whiz, I have had a bit of experience with malware and virus. The best thing to do is back up your important files and format the hard drive to get rid of the offending files.Then do a full reload, with a good anti virus and malware preventer.I use AVG ANTIVIRUS ,and have found it very good.You also, need a copy of windows 7 to do this. I hope I have helped you.

While I do have an automatic backup of my computer, your suggestion is good .. unfortunately it doesn't solve my interest about how to remove the write-protection of the files in this situation ..

Just questioned my son who has just finished 6 years of uni studying I.T. He said that usually rebooting the computer will delete these files. If they have not been removed suggests that they are being used by some other programme on the computer. His only suggestion is to download a different malware/spyware system from the one/ones you have used. Then rescan the hard drive. Hope this is helpful.

its a curly one allright .. The files are not in use by any other programme and were only manfactured when this Malware was activated ..

His suggestion to find another malware programme to delete it is now on my list .. have tried (2) others and (so far) no luck ..

You don't need to go buying anything.  Microsoft Security Essentials, is Freeware, and so is Threatfire.   According to a friend of mine, who is something of a Computer Whizz,  [Tafe ring him when they get a problem they can't fix]  they're all you need.

Use Piriform CC Cleaner [another Freebie] at the end of every night, and Auslogics Disk Defragmenter [another Freebie] once a week, and you shouldn't have any problems.

I currently use CCleaner and have used Auslogics Defragmenter which I have now replaced by another which I spent money on .. which enables all the drives to stay unfragmented all the time as it works in the background when the computer is on and sitting idle .. its called Diskeeper ..

My thanks go to Robins son .. I wanted to make sure that there were no other dependancies that were restricting my access to delete the files .. so I kept looking ..

Success .. !!

I do use a different Firewall (Outpost Pro) and found that there was a 'link' tying up those particular files ..

Removing the security from that firewall to the files enabled me to delete those files ..

I have been in IT for IBM for nearly 40 years now, I have found that there no way to get rid of these problems except to do a full reprogram (restore the system new specs) there is aways files left in the registry that can not be removed as they are hidden to normal access, i have spent many many hours deleting files only to find the system needs to be reprogrammed.
