Phil, I am sorry to hear about your grandson but you must have made some wonderful memories together over the past 3 months.
If you keep him updated on your travels by sending pics and stories it will work as a tonic for him as he will look forward to receiving the latest news.
Have a great trip! We may catch up sometime. Cheers. Pam.

Good on you Phil - enjoy your travels. Bit cold down south already according to family in Melbourne. Hope your grandson is going to be ok. What I did for my grandchildren when we travelled was get them a huge map of Australia, and send them postcards from lots of different places, with places we had been listed - they then drew lines on the map of our travels, different colours for different trips, kept them excited about our travels, and gave them a good idea of distances and places in our beautiful country. They still have it on the bedroom wall, and we often talk about some of the places, especially when they are going through my photos. Again, happy travels, and don't forget if you are in SE Qld - get in touch, if you want.

All the best on your travels Phil. When you start to plan your trip it seems to take forever to get to the "leaving date"doesen't it?How exciting now that your off!
We are leaving on Saturday 16/4/11 after selling our house and getting our van ready. We are heading up the west coast to meet family in Broome in July.
I know the feeling BushbabyandGumnut. Was hoping to leave on the 16th myself, but now won't be going till after easter. It seems like months since I bought Myrtle and the weeks are dragging by. Filling in the time by finding out more about her and finding all the little places for packing things away. Going through the house finding things I need to take with me, like my crotcheting and beading to keep up some hobbies etc etc.The longer I wait to go the more I find to take.
Safe and happy travel to all of you. I expect to be on the road sans caravan, after Easter if not before. Rosy is all fitted out and ready to roll. I can flash in 2 colours now. Pics later. Please travel as safely as you know how according to conditions, and allow for the other bast..ds stupidity. Don't become someone else's victim. Watch the front and look in the rear vision mirror often. You never know where they come from. Just stay safe.
