Central Queensland

Hi all - thinking about heading off mid-May to Quensland - initially St George, Quilpie, Longreach areas then further north.   Obvious question is how are the roads after the terrible weather they have had.   Thanks

I think you can expect plenty of potholes, and the odd holdup and detour, but everything will be open and you will be welcomed. I use the Racq road conditions site to advice me when I travel, But it is only an indication and should be treated as such.Ring ahead to where you are going, and that is usually pretty gospel. Its dry up here and getting cooler, so the best part of the year is ahead.Hvae a good trip.

I've just come through from Goodiwindi, the road into Moonie from the one that takes you to Toowoomba has an area near the Moonie end which is quite bad, no signs up either and you come on it suddenly. deep drops of the sealed part into gravel. Then north of Moonie going to Dalby there is a patch much the same but signposted well, \You have to drive off the road at that one to go around that bad patch, They've put gravel down the side by the trees for you to get around. Its not a long patch but wouldn't be worth trying to drive over. Thats all I've seen on my way up in total.

I'd suggest proceeding with caution. Where there isn't road works there will be damage. Take it easy.
