They sell us stuff, and when there's a problem we can't find the parts to fix it, or, worse still, it can't be fixed, we dispose of it and have to buy a replacement new one. DeBe is probably the expert here, and a lot of you have experience in these things - My Waeco blew a fuse today. The fridge is 2007 model and this is the first time it has blown a fuse. That's my first worry. Why did it blow a fuse? Second: Where can I get new ones? I'll get more than one when I find them, in case it happens again.

Hi Chris, The Fuse is 2.5Amp Slow blow M205, Avalable as a ceramic fuse from Jaycar part SF2117. $1.45. There is a store at 3B/580 Main Nth Rd Gepps cross, its on the left just before the intersection. I shop there all the time as its very convinient. Interesting why it blew, may be old age! at this stage just try a new fuse if i blows then there is probably a problem with the 240v powersupply. Does it run ok on 12V DC. I am asuming its the 240V fuse at the 240V plug in the end of the fridge. If your realy curious Chris theres pics in Techies corner under Waeco Powersupply of whats in there.

Thanks DeBe. I went to Jaycar and they didn't have the 2.5 required, but based on new information I'll pursue the alternative. Biggles I'm not sure why it blew other than it was an old fuse. I'd disconnected from 240V while I washed Rosy (my truck) and when I plugged in there was no power. After a process of elimination I resorted to removing the fuse. It works just fine on 12V. I'll manage until tomorrow as the nights are bloody cold. Then I'll try the ceramic version to determine if it was the fuse or some other problem. As it's the first time it's happened I'm not stressing about it, because the fridge works fine. I just knew I'd get help from my fellow nomads.

I just knew there was water involved somewhere, I could feel it in my bones. Seriously though, I'm not so good with electrics & they have always let me down when I need them most.
I knew I'd get a response to work with from someone. In DeBe's case he is intimately familiar with Waeco fridges. It turns out the fuse blew because the 240V connection is not well. It's working ok on 12 V and a neighbour has lent me a transformer until I can get a diagnoses and prognosis at the fridge man tomorrow. Thanks for you help everyone. And Jack, I hope you recover soon.
