Well the van and 4WD are all packed and ready to head off in the morning, going 'down hill' this time - had two trips going 'uphill' to Townsville already this year- in floods and cyclones, but you have to get through when a new grandchild is on the way. But now it's time to head off to Canberra through all the cold (yep, the long johns are packed, as well as the Port) for the arrival of another grandchild in about two weeks. For those special times though, particularly the arrival of new grandchildren, like postmen - through rain, hail or shine - you must get through!!!
Just got to add the toothbrushes and slippers and we shall be off, heading west to Goondiwindi, then down the Newell to Forbes, before cutting across to Canberra via Young & Yass.
Will let you know when the new little one arrives.

I wish you safe and happy travels, and recommend you drive slower than you would normally. I did this route last week, and between the roadworks the roads are RUFF! I only bounced once in my car. With the van on you will get to bounce twice for every bump. The roads are very uneven and broken from flood damage, so take it steady. Apart from that, enjoy the country you drive through. It's looking beautiful. The colours of the foliage are so crisp and clean.
