GN Membership Personal Joining Numbers ???

Wouldn't it be great if the automated joining system could allocate us a membership number on joining, eg: GN1, GN2 etc, etc.

This could be added to the members signature by the member, eg;

Vic

 GN600

And;  Have it displayed on their RV if they are inclined to do so.

So any other GN would know they are a member of the forum, and if the sighted members are a regular poster on the forum other GN's may even recognise who the member is by their number.

Just a thought, what do you think?

I think it's a great idea Vic.

I personally don't see much point in it but if it were the wishes of other members I wouldn't oppose it.

Grey Nomads stickers tend to serve that purpose already. If people wanted they can always get an additional sticker made up stating their GN name.

Cheers

Jon

Me too Sheba, that way you wouldn't have to put your name on the RV, just your GN number so others seeing you on the road could work out who you were.   Could even make up a list of GN numbers to carry if they wished.

Obviously not everyone agrees, but it appeals to me.  Some CMCA members and ATCM&CC members already display their number on their RV in a similar fashion.  Also put it on the bottom of posts etc.

At least if we had one it would give you the option of displaying it or not.

I don't see any point in names or numbers. Just show the sticker and fly the grey/silver ribbons, and you'll be seen.
I have a sticker on the back of the van and the tug, but other then prearranged meetings, I've only stumbled upon one GN by chance, and the sticker and ribbons played no part in that meeting either.
I think we're out there everywhere and it's just by chance if our paths should cross.
If you really want to meet other GN's just add your destination or location to your signature as the Nicholstones and Jonathon have done.
If we're there, we'll find you.
Come out, come out wherever you are.

I don't see the point either. Already have the GN stickers both front and back and in the month away haven't seen another grey nomad at all.
If you have a sticker blue and brown with grey nomad all over it, whats the difference with a GN 600. Or any other number.
No one has approached me saying Oh I see you are a grey nomad but I have told plenty about the site in my travels.

In 18 months on the road the only other members of the Grey Nomads we ever met was due to us both answering the same add in the Grey Nomads work wanted section so we ended up doing some work for the same people for a free camping place & use of the facilities.

Cheers

Jon

As we don't actually pay a membership, it doesn't seem any point to number us. We come and we go, but just get those stickers on display. They're free!

G'day Vic, is that your new camper in your avatar? Are you tired of towing a caravan?

Ummmm......looks like I'm in the minority on this one.......ok, I'll crawl back into my shell wink  (well, until the next post, lol).

Yes no more caravan Billy, waiting to have the van converted (starts tomorrow) then will post another pic.

Hop your new van is going well, looks nice in the pic.  Are you back home yet or still travelling?

Can't wait to see other Pics. Vic.   You'll be glad to be paying only one lot of Rego. and Insurance too no doubt.

Cheers,

Sheba.

The extra rego wasn't too bad Sheba, but the insurance was the killer, cost just as much to insure the caravan as the vehicle (X'Trail) I had.

So now only one lot of insurance, rego and maintenance.

Having the conversion done by Dove Camper Conversions, hope they do a good job!

Glad all went well and you are happy with your rig Bill.  I see there is another UWE at Pelican Point if you are interested.
