Hi all. This long weekend the Wife and Myself towed the van from Dubbo to Newcastle to stay over at a rellies house for a 70th birthday bash. Departing Dubbo Thursday and arriving back Monday. On the way there and back we spotted only 2 police vehicles. We also noted that there were no silly idiots in either direction and that many drivers were courteous and considerate towards us. There was extremely heavy rain and the road traffic slowed to conditions which was great to see so the road safety message is getting through.
Just a positive post for once.
Cheers Dodg

Glad there are some sensible drivers out there. Last week on the Mitchell Freeway in Perth I was overtaken by an RAC tilt-tray truck with a car on the tray and the driver chatting away on his mobile phone. Cheers, Tony

Beats me how anyone can have an accident near where we are on the South Road as it is a two lane yet on Thursday someone was being cut out of the car with the jaws of life as we went past hope whoever it was wasn't too bad. Helena.
I just traveled from Sydney down to Sanctuary Point for the long weekend (about 400km return) and on the way back today I counted 10 highway patrol vehicles and 4 police motorcycles. Kept everyone nice and safe.
And some of the Police vehicles had markings from other areas...ie. Surry Hills HWP working in Wollongong.
But it just happens that I saw them...it may have been that the person traveling 2km behind me might not have seen them as they were off the highway, or in a servo filling up...but rest assured, they are out there, so drive safely
I drive the Golden Highway (Newcastle-Dubbo) regularly and always find it a pleasant drive. (apart from around Maitland, that's always a pain in the butt). It doesn't have the traffic density or hoons that the Pacific Highway has.
When travelling north I go through Gunnedah/Goondiwindi and the Leichhardt Highway for the same reason.

Nowra Police Area Command ALWAYS bring in extra "flying" squads on any holiday time D. Then they distribute them to all the little towns from Nowra down to Ulladulla.
The influx of people over holiday times is impossible for the few too many local police we have.
