ok so i;m home from land sailing over the june long weekend at lake gilles about 2&1/2 hours west of Port Augusta and clocked up about 150'k in the land yacht going up and down the lake top speed only 58.3 which isn't my best but not bad all the same particularly when your arse is only a few cm off the ground,,, i'm glad i took the camper as boy oh boyit was cold, left a bottle of water sittingout over night and when i got up sunday morning to make a cuppa the water was frozen in the bottle,,, went to the trouble of buying a portable gas heater very nice one too, tried it out when i got it home from the camping shop put out a fair bit of heat for a small heater,,, must remember to take it with me next time and not leave it sitting on the table, the bride tried to ring me but phone was turned off to save the battery DERRRRR i must say at this point i think i'm more of a warmish weather type camper and it was fun with everyone sailing even a bit of night sailing but i was glad to get home,, therefore i have concluded that most, not all mind you but most of my trips away now will be in more warmer clims,, i maybe getting soft in my old age but i can live with it

Was at wilmington .over that weekend.....Sunday morning it was 0 deg inside our van..Brrrrrrrrrr....glad we had power site.....turn on the lil electric fan heater.......
I dont mind camping in winter now.....love sitting around a camp fire........
used to hate packing up a wet campertrailer..getting home and hang out wet canvas.....
yeh i think next year will be the year of the 'van, i like the idea of just pulling up and hopping into the 'van for a cuppa or something without having to pull everything out but i'll still keep the camper trailer for bush trips
