Great Australian Doorstep

Did anyone see the program Great Australian Doorstep on channel 7two this afternoon. It might not have been on in all areas.

Was hosted by Spida Everett and his wife Sheree, and showed us around Toowoomba, Fernvale and Wivenhoe Dam. Seems to be a regular program.

Was great to see Wivenhoe Dam and showed a great camping area. Captain Logans Camp, I think I have that right. Right on the waters edge. $12.50 a night for a powered site paid into an honesty box. Looked a lovely spot and definitely somewhere I will be visiting next trip.

A program worth looking out for next Saturday.

Sorry we didn't see it - but will file it away as a site.  We're heading off for 12 mths in a couple of weeks - sold the house, putting stuff in storage and we're away.  Can't wait!!

When we leave the gate we'll decide which way we turn in our 2003 Freedom poptop towed by a 2004 Pajero.

See you out there somewhere!!

Hi Marj

I think it's an interesting subject but I have been at my Daughter's since yesterday...belated birthday dinner....so did not see your post until now.

I love Great Australian Doorstep and all of my other Saturday shows, which, incidentally, are all of the same ones that tiger5 mentioned.....(he is clearly a man of good taste)  smile  smile

All of the areas that you mentioned are very pretty. Toowoomba, of course, was devastated in January by both an inland tsunami and the floods but from what I hear the town is just about back to normal. I intend driving out there in a few weeks for a looksee.

Cheers.  smile

p.s. Good to see Myrtle as your avatar. smile

I never get sick of those shows. There's a lot of roadworks out that way repairing storm/flood damage.
I got a twinge of homesickness for Broome when I saw the Pigrim Brothers on George Negus 6.30pm. They've done the soundtrack for a movie made up that way.
I also heard one of their songs in the shopping centre on Friday. Must be the week for the "Piggies".

Love the Pigram Brothers Chris.

They did the soundtrack with Alex Lloyd.

That movie is on my "to see" list.  smile

Me too. One of the brothers worked at the Broome Hospital in maintenance electrical dept. I did payroll and other jobs in admin at the hospital for 5.5 years.
The other brothers all have jobs outside their music, which always paints a great picture of the Kimberley Region.

Have seen this show before - think Spider made it a couple of years ago now, but still great to watch, makes it real when you see someone actually doing it with their family in a pretty basic fashion, which this show was about, I reckon.

Jules, this must be a new episode as he talked about january's floods, and showed where it had gone through Toowoomba.
I'm with you guys, I just love all the travel shows on TV. Sauturday, I am happy to sit in front of TV all day, even the round of cooking shows are travelshows in themselves on 7two.

That is one great part of Queensland, spent 5 years based at Oakey and loved every minute of it.... close enough to the big city but far enough away to be country, just a bit chilly in the winter.

Being out here in the sticks we dont get it unfortunately but we do get postdcards and some other llifestyle shows, but they are very commercially motivated, still a great source of information though.

I found a very nice free camp out on the banks of Yanga Creek down near Balranald heres a link http://www.lets-getaway.com/Review-NSW-Yanga_Creek_Rest_Area.htm

The fog in the morning was absolutely awesome...

Sounds like some good spots to put on the "must see" list, will have a look at William The Third (Billy The Kid) on next weeks show;

PS: I have been offline for most of today, pc problems (don't ask, but back online now).
