Recently spent a couple of nights at the above park and the "amenities" are an absolute disgrace. Rotting woodwork on door frames, tiles missing from shower floors and walls, the place was not cleaned in the two nights we spent there and was generally filthy.The only thing that should be done to this toilet block is to demolis and start again.
In fairness I have to say that a tradesman was working on the tiles but they should never have got to the state there were in. At $29.50 a night one could reasonably expect something better than this. There is a newer park in Lightning Ridge with good facilities, at $25. 50 a night I just wish that we had known about it. A report has also been sent to the Walgett Council who has jurisdiction in Lightning Ridge.

It's unfortunate you found such a disappointing park. We often hear about the good stuff and the nice facilities, so it's disappointing to hear someone is taking the dollars and giving such a mess in return. Thanks for the tip off, and I hope it gets better for you.

We were in LR a few months ago, new C/park was under construction, I suppose that is why the other one is nbg, we stayed in the diggings in our van, friend has a claim there.
We stayed there about four years ago, amenities were looking pretty untidy back then - I don't think they are adequate for the numbers they get in there, especially around festival time - gets pretty packed. Love Lightning Ridge though - so mnuch to see and do, and great characters.

The Lightning Ridge Tourist Park, (known to locals as the Council Caravan Park) in Harlequin Street, is having a facelift.
Rumours have it that the park is closing, this is not so. Ann and Bob Dellow are under contract with the Lightning Ridge Camping and Caravan Park Reserve Trust (the owners) for the next 12 months to manage, clean up and improve the park.
Consultants have prepared a business development strategy plan which includes the development of the park and Anne and Bob have already commenced with the re-organisation, painting and general cleaning up of the office and arrival area.
They have begun re-tiling and painting the current ablutions and within the next month will have a fire pit and a camp kitchen ready. Throughout the year the next stage will be a new ablution block and residence/office. These will replace the old ones. Also installing cabins and ensuites.
Anne and Bob have the extensive experience in owning, operating and improving parks. For the past eight-and-a-half years they have been travelling Australia working in the development and upgrading of caravan parks, coming out of their fourth retirement to work in Lightning Ridge. Anne says they are very keen to work with the local tourism association and local operators, including the other accommodation providers. Anne says their philosophy is the longer people stay in our park the more money they spend in the town.

G'day all, Lightning Ridge is ok, and we met some very nice people there, but this has given us a wake up, in future we will be parking somewhere close and have a walk round before we pay. We went and had a look at the "new" park and it was very clean and tidy. Yes, I will put a message on the Badger's list. Thanks to all who replied. Phil B.
