Article in The West Australian - Saturday 9th July 2011;
"The City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder has made a $50,000 contribution to the Campervan Motorhome Club of Australia to assist with the staging of its rally in the Goldfields during October.
Mayor Ron Yuryevich presented the cheque to CMCA chairman Diana Worner and Kalgoorlie rally manager Phil Chadd during the club's recent 25th Anniversary Rally in Denliquin, NSW.
Up to 800 motorhomes are expected to converge on the twin cities for the Fields of Gold National Rally, which will be staged at the Goldfields Oasis Recreation Centre for seven days from October 10.
Plans are well advanced and member registration is now open. A pre-rally mystery safari from Perth has been organised by members Dave and Sue Barr. It will leave Perth on September 29, arriving in the Goldfields for the start of the rally. It is open to 35 vehicles and bookings close on August 20.
Those registering for the Goldfields rally before September 19 will pay $50 per person, while registrations after that date will be $70 each. Powered sites will cost $15 a night while unpowered spots will be $9."......(end of article).

A couple of years ago Gerty, I went to a group of 50 vans (approx 100 people) in Busselton. The treasurer collected all the receipts on everything that was spent in the town over the 1 week we were there and it totalled $75,000. So you can imagine how much this rally will bring to businesses in the town for the numbers that will be attending for the period they will be there. Also surrounding areas and along the main travel routes.
I'm not too sure how the average Kalgoorlie-Boulder rate payer would feel about their council forking out $50,000 though.

I reckon the locals will see the benefits around the region as time goes by. If they handed over $50,000 they must be expecting to at least triple their investment. What woult the CMCA need that much money for? Unless it was in sponsorship for waiving fees etc.
