Hi all,

Sitting on the banks of the Murray River just south of Tucumwal, near a small billabong.  Lovely day, great relaxingf spot, much needed after a nite crossing Bass Strait:  Smooth crossing, fortunately, just not much rest.Stopped in Shapparton to stock up at the SPC Ardmona outlet, then to here. 

Running the laptop off a 12V adapter, so far so good...  Took a while to find all the bits, but by the time I head back to Tassie in Nov. I should have things more sorted and a routine in place.  As it is, I made a much needed plunger coffee and the standby canned spaghetti:  Cuisineart can start tomorrow!

So, at long last it has begun!  Thanks to all for help, advice and warm support!

You've got the right idea. Take a couple of days and settle into an easy routine, no rush, no hassles and life will be just dandy. I'm starting off 0n the 15th of August from Perth and heading north up the west coast and limiting myself to 300kms per day and 3 days a week. And thats the Maximum!!!As long as I'm out of Darwin by the end of November and headed to the east coast all is good

Sounds just about right! Leaving myself tomorrow morning and heading north from Geraldton. Been delayed by many "unforeseen" circumstances lol but now ready to start in the morning! Feeling excited, scared and all points in between! I like the picture of the laptop and coffee at the end of a long first day.

I'll be sitting in a classroom all day tomorrow upping my accreditation for the job.

Safe travels to all of you, and whatever you do, enjoy yourself.
Bent Axle Bob you have the right idea. Short days to relocate, a couple of days to absorb where you are and get a feel for the place. Have a look around. Learn, view and enjoy. Taking your time is the only way to do this nomad stuff. You'll also meet a lot of really nice people doing the same thing.

Thanks all, I can relate to the jitters before setting off, Jo, just don't let them stop you!  Just take it easy, move at your own pace to the places you want to see and enjoy life!  Tonight I am on the banks of the Murrumbidgee River at Darlington Point,S of Griffith in NSW.  There don't appear to be many GN in the area, at least not 'free camping', but it certainly is quiet (birds excepted) and peaceful.  And Yes!  That cup of coffee and the laptop at the end of the day are great!

Just spent two lovely days in Onslow, temp about 27, calm waters and lovely beachwalking. Missing my border collie especially when walking but he wouldn't like all the driving. Pulling into Karratha as I need a rather nasty chip on the windscreen fixed, then a couple of days inPoint Samson before leaving for 80 Mile Beach.

Loving it all, van working well, the computer and coffee at the end of the day keeping in touch sets the cherry on the top. all nerves have vanished!
