What's in a name (with apologies to Shakespeare

We have a new tug, which Rip wants to name "Ruby"  though I'm not sure.

Those of you who have christened your tug or van - why did you choose the names you did?

Hi Rip and Rosie, well I have named my kayak, my tug, & my van "Varekai". I got this from the Cirque du Soleil site. The word "Varekai" means "wherever" in the Romany language of the gypsies, the universal wanderers. Each Cirque du Soleil production is based around a story line & this production pays tribute to the nomadic soul, to the spirit and art of the circus tradition, and to the infinite passion of those whose quest takes them along the path that leads to "Varekai". I thought it was very apt when I was touring in my kayak & so I named it such. I have since named my tug & van similarly, & for the same reason.

Regards Terry

When I bought my van, I named her...but was half hearted about it, so didn't
have a sticker printed.

One day, I was in the van doing some "cosmetic touches" and I decided to call her Cecilia....it just seems to suit. smile

Went through a few names in my head and as soon as I said Myrtle it seems to fit.
Ruby is my late mothers name and very popular with baby girls these days.

Esmeralda is what my grandfather called me before I was born - apparently he plugged for it when I turned out to be a girl but my father and mother said no (thank goodness).  I use the name every now and then for things.

Any day now. She went for Ultrasound and check up last Wednesday, They said its weighing in at 8lb 12oz and still a week to go.
Was hoping it would all happen while the star sign is still Leo, as that is also their surname, but nothing happening yet.

As both Travel Bug and Happy Wanderer have said, I think names just either "Fit" or they don't.

Cheers,

Sheba.

A cousin had her bub today by Caesarian, after a very difficult pregnancy where she's spent the last 6 or 8 weeks in hospital, poor thing. They'd only let her go to 34 weeks and little Rose is only 1kg. But apparently they're both okay.

Took Myrtle for a 100 ks drive today, just to make sure she goes well out on the open road. No good piddling around town all the time. She goes well sitting on 90kph. So all ready for the big trip to Bendigo when the time comes. And have sussed out a free camp just out of Bendigo at Epsom just in case I need it as well. Or the Showgrounds for $20 a night.

Great, isn't it ?

Cheers,

Sheba.

It felt good once I got over the initial nervousness. This whole thing has stressed me out so much, I'm a nervous wreck before I go out each time.
Can only get better.

Bit hard to make suggestions when we don't know what you have, but a tentative one is "Ridleys' Ride."  Best I can come up with at short notice.

Cheers,

Sheba.

We have a Roadstar - 1995 version- as yet unamed because I think it's a he, but Rip reckons it's a she. Not sure how to tell exactly, but seems like most folk say "she" and not "he". I like Roger, but guess there will be no agreement..... maybe should try " The cave" or BOW (Bed on Wheels).

Anyway, we just got a new Ford Territory and she's so pretty. Given that she's red, Ruby was the name that jumped out for her, so Ruby it is.

I did suggest that we paint the caravan wheels red, and then we could have "Ruby and the red shoes" which I'm sure I have read about somewhere.

The caravan is definitely a "she". Unlike a car, "a he", there is no exhaust pipe, or something long poking out.

Like the avatars Beth and Esmerelda and some very nice scenery ones as well.

I haven't given mine a name, well, only a temporary one "Novida" which is Spanish for "New Life" (ie; the RV life). Having a logo done at the moment for the van, haven't seen the proofs yet.
