We have been thinking about a generator, theres always a generator stall at the caravan/camping shows where they claim to sell the latest and quietest etc.
My question is, what kind of fuel do they use? And how do you carry it? Mr D isnt keen on carrying jerry-cans of fuel.
I have a Honda U20i, very quiet , ecconomical, I keep the unit fuel tank full and carry a 5 litre approved fuel bottle which I fill when needed at the servo when fueling the Tug or MH whichever is the case. Does not take up much room.
Two 123 watt Solar Panels (on roof) and a pair of batteries with a 1000 watt inverter is what we use and will give you all the power you need. We use 240 volt bread maker, hair drier & toaster all off the Solar panels. It cost us about $2,000
we have the Honda 20i and also have two solar panels on the roof, don't use the genny much just there if we get a bit low on batt, (Mrs W watching too much tv) carry 5lt fuel in red approved bottle
we have 2 side pockets in the Future System van and it goes in there just right size, now jerry can on bumper bars are a no no in some state's, if you carry cans this way and somebody runs up your bum it could make a very nice firework display, would not suggest cans on the back of van.
Hi, we have a Honda 20i as well as solar (4 x 64 watt panels) and the generator only gets use when we get lots of cloudy days. You can pick them up considerably cheaper at caravan and camping shows. Even with the 15 dollar entry fee I saved a lot on purchase price. Dealers were selling 2kva Honda for $2300 and I got mine for $1699 including a filter kit, spare oil, a security cable and a trolley that is collapsible for moving things about, oh and it had a 5 year extended warranty too. Happy shopping.
