Veteran Moi???

Geez - just noticed I got upgraded to a veteran but for what - talking a lot and being an old wind bag. Ok sounds good. Seeing I haven't bought my rig yet or set a launch date it seems very premature. But thanks to the forum for allowing me to make contact with lots of great people.

Ellen

Enjoy getting ready but the actual travel is beyond your dreams. Gee I would not go back to work or living in a house even if they paid me LOL

We need extra status levels. Once we get to 500 we all just stay a Guru. Perhaps over 1000 could be a Super Guru and then over 2000 could be Special Super Guru

Is there somewhere the levels are defined?  I've never quite understood the system.  It's a great site tho, that's the mmost important part!

I think we're graded by the number of contributions, but I don't think the quality comes into it. While we're all valuable members of GN, some of us rabbit on more than others, especially me.
Elle, judging by your recent status promotion you'll be an "expert" by the time you get your rig and hit the road. That has to be a good thing. Time will tell.

Definitely need a few more categories but not sure what they would call them. perhaps we could come up with a few original options.

I'm with Bieffe - I haven't been on the road that long but I can't imagine myself staying put in a house again. I know that you're going to have a ball once you hit the road so stop procrastinating and just do it.

I think the levels are done on number of posts that you initiate, so just posting your one here will help get you to the next level. When I first saw "veteran" I wondered how they knew how old I was!

Yes Jules, they are done on the number of posts, no doubt. I think its just that we get up the ladder so quickly then basically sit at the top forever.
Imagine how I felt when I saw I was now a Guru, I've never been that good at anything.

Thats my old college in NZ Sheba. Had the photo sent to me. This winters snow, never seen it in that area before.
All the photos of Myrtle so far have been on funny angles. Will have to take some more.

If you click on list all users you will see our status'
I think you start as a newbie and when you have posted 5 times you become a member then at 25 a veteran at 100 a senior and 500 a guru

Just looked at that Pam, it seems the majority of us are gurus. We definitely need another higher one to attain to. Gotta have a goal in life.biggrin

By the way, this maggie in my avatar is a hand fed one, up at my sons in Biggenden, sits on the balcony rail waiting for food.

I had a wild Maggie in Canberra for about 5 years who just decided to drop in one day and sit on my deck railing. I put some mince out for him and he kept coming back. He sussed out the dog feeding times and would turn up regularly and I would put a feed out for him as well. He would eat out of my hand. It was great because he was not dependent on me and remained wild.  He would sometimes not come for several weeks and I assume he was out exploring or mating or conducting secret magpie business. It is such an amazing experience to have that sort of connection with a wild creature.

We feed two maypies at the function centre i work at ..But they only get raw meat on weekend so they too remain wild too ..Last magpie season they had 3 chicks so when they were out of nest they would come for food too .... Mum and dad sit on the table out side back door and sing to us to we feed them then off they go ..
