THE WEATHER

It's official! Qld had it's coldest winter for 10 years. I was away from home for 6 weeks but I certainly felt it going through some inland areas.

And the hail storm we had yesterday in SEQ is just the start, according to the BoM. It's extremely unusual to get a hail storm here in August, but there'll be more in September.

Not only is it strange weather here, but a Hurricane hitting New York?! Amazing! disbelief

Same with my daughter at Greenbank. She posted on facebook, 'okay rain, you can stop now, the tanks are full!' "laughing:

Apparently we had 15ml(? is that right) last night, according to someones rain gauge - things are looking a bit greener, but still very dry, did a tour today around the area looking at b&b's - still looks pretty dry around the fields - the farmers are burning off madly at the moment, appaprently the burning off ban comes in on Sunday - so lots of smoke haze around - makes for a very attractive sunset though.

I know what you mean Beth...I am very power conservative....This winter we have had the heating on from 6am till after noon. I thought I was getting frail!

My lovely oil heater died just before I went away. I didn't last long when I got home,,had to go out and buy a new one. But it's not as good as the old one.

I live in a granny flat under a big house..it's very shaded, so it's lovely in the summer but not in the winter.

Beautiful spring day here in Brissy, as I sit in the car at Newfarm Park using the free Council WiFi.

SWMBO is at the hairdressers so I come to the park for a coffee & stroll amongst the rose gardens  .. but the free wifi got me.

Oh really! I didn't know they did that. I wonder if Logan Council has it too.

Another month or so and the Jacarandas will be flowering in New Farm Park. Lovely!

Maybe the library does it Beth. I know you can sit outside the library in Bundaberg and use you own laptop on the wifi as you can at most Mcdonalds these days.

Have had a lovely day here in the Scenic Rim as well - apart from the smoke haze - fire restrictions start on Sunday, so farmers are burning flat out - no wind to blow it away, so just a haze everywhere you look - wouldn't like to be asthmatic or the like.

Hi folks,
my ten cents worth is we have had only 19mm of rain all winter - 50k's out of julia Creek. Country is quite dry at present and not looking forward to grass fires. It hasn't rained since mid-July. The days have been fantastic up around the 28-33 degrees. We have 2 x 100,000 litre water tanks filled from artesian bores on the property and it tastes okay.
cheers
Terry
