Currently at Berry Showgrounds

Have been free camping since I left Trial Bay, a couple of nights at Coopernook Forest Park 84 Camps6 followed by a night at Olney State Forest 123 Camps6.

I enjoy the camaradery that seems to exist in the free camping fraternity not so sure about the bumpy tracks that need to be traveled to reach them.

Looked around Kiama on my way today taking in the Blow Hole, the last time I was in Kiama was 1960 and I remembered how I liked the town.

Arrived this afternoon at Berry Showgrounds 594 Camps6 the price went up last month to $20 for a powered site  but I have booked in for 2 nights.

The GPS took me round Sydney really well but the traffic was horrendous glad I had been driving around Brisbane recently or could have been phased by the huge trucks on both sides.

Looking for a restful day tomorrow after the 300kms today.

John

Hi John, if you are going down the coast road don't forget the camping ground at Moruya.  No power but flush loos and drinking water and fire wood available to purchase from one of the permanent residents.

The caretaker comes round once a day and the fee is $11 per night if you are a pensioner.

Just follow the highway south and just before you go over the bridge into Moruya township turn left, follow that for about 5ks and then turn right towards the airport. 1k further on is the camping ground.

Billeeee, did you make that stop at the Op Shop and get yourself a jacket and long trousers?   Enjoy the snow.  It's nowhere near as cold when it's actually snowing and very pretty too.

Excellent thanks Ma,

setting off tomorrow and had intended to go a little further to Narooma but a personal reference beats an entry in a book.

My next post should be from Moruya,

John

Hope you enjoy Moruya as much as we do John.  Take a walk out to the end of the breakwall and watch the boats going in and out over the bar.  A walk along the beach is great as well.

If you are looking for a good butcher go through the main street to the roundabout and hang a left and just up there on the right is a bakery, green grocer and a butcher.  We got the best corned beef we have ever had from him and in fact all the meat we have purchased there has been top quality.

Haven't tried the pies from the butcher (he has hot ones too) but the pies from the bakery are pretty ordinary.

Enjoy yourself.

Hey John

looks like you are having a great trip. That part of the NSW coast is great and not so busy. Enjoy.

I'm in awe of you taking your van through Sydney, I'm a bit tentative in any city in mine until I'm sure where I'm gong. In Darwin at the moment but doing a lot of travelling by bus and leaving the van parked. Buses are great here and all free for seniors.

Loving Darwin, extending stay again :)

Good luck with your travels up the coast, I may eventually bump into you if I go south via Qld instead of down the middle.

Jo

Yes Billeee, would be good to catch up again. Have traveled to Moruya and may stay a couple of days. How much time do you want to take to do the GOR and get back to Greens Lake? If we deduct that time from the beginning of November we can meet.

Will take the ferry as suggested in the other GOR thread and can take as much time as needed to get to Geelong.

John

 Hi Jo,

As it happened the GPS did a good job of getting me through the suburbs, it must be set to avoid tolls 'cos I didn't pass one!!!

Enjoy your time in Darwin, who knows we may meet up as long as we post here and keep in touch.

John
