Relaxing at Greens Lake

I am at Greens Lake, just getting dark. Great spot. Plenty of room. Will try and get some photos up while I still have computer battery. Theres toilets here. Dogs allowed and off a leash. Have had a little friend called Bindy coming over to say hello all day.

Tess, The Pod, came to visit, we had a lovely chat and went for a bit of a walk. Thanks for the scone and jam, and the choccies Tess. Lovely.

This is looking to the right of me

Just tried to put up another photo with Myrtle in it but it froze. Yes Bill, Myrtle is on the road, doing a few short runs so I can take her back in for a tighten up.
Jules. That was one I took on my phone and emailed to myself so can't put it on here. Will take more tomorrow.
Its a great spot. Heaps of room, can spread out far and wide. I'm about 10 feet from the waters edge.

Looks like an ideal spot as long as those quad bikes aren't ripping around all day.
What facilities are there? eg toilets.
I hope Myrtle is behaving herself after all the grief she's caused you. That "tighten up" sounds ominous. Are you sure it's Myrtle?

Cruising - a "tighten up" after a new or reco engine is par for the course. It's usually just a general service and check up - all consumable parts have been pulled off and a whole bunch of other things would have been tweaked and adjusted - it would certainly be remiss of a good mechanic to not insist on a check up after about 1000km after a new engine fit.

It is a condition of the warranty on Felicia's new engine that she go in for a checkup after 800km of "running in". Even if it wasn't, I'd be insisting that Mum do it before going off on a longer trek.

At the end of the day, a reconditioned engine should be treated the same as a brand new car - and a brand new car has a similar sort of "tightening up" procedure at it's first service.

HW - I'm so glad to see that you're out and about after all the drama!

Thank you Marj for a lovely chat and walk today. The spot was just lovely and if I had not had other arrangements tonight I would have taken The Pod up there and shared the lovely spot and delightful weather with you. Glad you enjoyed the "treats". Looking forward to meeting up some time again in the not too distant future. I hope I can make the meet with you all up at Greens.
Cheers
Tess

Hi Marj ..

I'd have to agree with you, its a lovely spot ! As you know I spent time there on a couple of occasions and was also able to enjoy it at reasonably quiet times .. but it does become very active as the season warms up.

One thing for visiting GN's to consider with increased traffic (and at all hours) and with only one way in & out, that they do look around before setting up. A benefit though of single access is that it is less attractive to the 'hoon' element as its also their only means of 'escape' ..

Where I will look to setup is at a point beyond the toilet block .. as I noticed quite a number of vehicles just stopping to use the facilities then off again. Its only a small block and would certainly be busy around peak times from campers as well.

On both occasions that I was there, vehicles did arrive for the sole purpose of walking/running with their dogs .. it was so quiet and peaceful and obviously popular with the locals.

Currently at Tamworth for a few days before moving on towards Coffs then Tweed Heads ..

Jon

Russ (Loffty) and I have just enjoyed the weekend at Greens Lake also. We caught up[ with Happy Wanderer today and enjoyed a great chat and cuppa. The lake certainly is a terrific spot. Lots of room for camping. Toilet block is fine. Weather was perfect. We took our two dogs and they had a great time also. Looking forward to our catch up in November.

One thing to note though, if you enjoy your campfires I would suggest you bring your own wood. There is very little around and after Cup weekend there'll be even less. We took our own wood and were pleased that we did.

Back to work and reality tomorrow - bugger!

Hi all, I'm back home after 2 glorious days beside Greens Lake. Now that I'm back on power can put up some more photos. then start packing to go back for another couple of days Haha!!
Definetely will be going back in a couple of weeks once I have a few more things sorted out with Myrtle. it all takes time. it was a reall rough baching this weekend. Yesterday was just beautiful, woke at 7am to a very calm day and lake like a mirror, sat in bed with a cuppa with the sliding door wide open. At home I would have been still snoring.
Cooked myself a lovely tea of bacon, eggs and tomatoes on my portable gas cooker outside in the sun. Went for walks, read two books. Met up with Sue and Lofty for a cuppa and a chat, was a great surprise finding them there also.
Left there just on midday today, was getting a bit windy and time to get home.

Oh by the way, those bikes are only around at the weekend. This morning was so quiet. Everyone had gone home except myself and two others, so we had the whole lake to ourselves. There is a bit of noise at times from the bikes and speedboats but there is room for everybody, the area is so big.

This one was taken from my door looking straight into the lake. Thats what I woke up to in the morning.

I remember going over the range to Coffs many years ago, and being very car sick. Beautiful countryside though Jon.

Some more photos showing more trees around the place. This is the road across the top, with trees throughout that whole area nearly down to the water in that part.

This is looking right down to the bend, there was one caravan parked down there last night and the only other was a large bus, they were staying 3 weeks.

Your van is looking good too Pam, forgotten her name for the minute. Do I detect a lot of pink there, inside and outside?? Are they windows along the top??

That's not my van Marj....it's one that I found on the net... smile

My 4 year old Granddaughter told me that she really loves my van,
it's very pretty, and she would like to go on a holiday in it...and....I could paint it pink like Barbie's!

I thought a pink avatar was less work than a makeover....but who knows what the future holds?? smile

Oh well, maybe you can use that avatar as your starting point. What do you call it. A floor plan will do. It looks good doesn't it?

Yes very nice it was Marj, glad you had a lovely time. I reckon if the visit was mid week there would be far less folk around. More perhaps because of the time of year but far less than a weekend if that suits all concerned.
