Yeah! The place grows on you like mould in the wet season. Think of me as you wallow at Ganthume Point Beach. It's quieter than Cable Beach. It's actually the southern extreme of Cable. It will always have a very special place in my memory banks. Good things happened to me in Broome, and they didn't involve a bloke. LOL

Yep, went to Ganthume Point today, thru the Japanese cemetry and then a couple of hours at a friends place not far from Cable Beach. Had an interesting day poking around corners, alleyways and various shops the day before. Had my first problem as I arrived in Broome. The solar regulator fitted( Manson 7130) decided to pack it in. Located the local solar shop, All Volts, and was informed that mine was the second of that brand in 2 days that he had replaced. Very helpful and it was 4.00pm before it was finished. Charges were quite reasonable, compared battery prices to Perth. I paid $410 each for my 2 batteries, 105 amp hr agm's. All Volts price for the SAME batteries?.....$369 each

Did you see where the Japanese bombed the Dutch(fleeing from Java) in the Harbour in their Sunderland flying boats and they buiried about 79 of them just on shore ,then exumed them after the war , took the home.

We always check out the cemetary's and were really looking forward to checking out the Japanese one in Broome, then when we went there realised we could not read their stories, so we just had to settle for taking photos. I am sure they would have been very interesting.
Yes, the wrecks are still there, visible only on very low tides. Went to the museum today, quite fascinating .There were numerous Japanese headstones stored there also. It was a rather sad sight. Will be leaving Broome wednesday and heading past Fitzroy crossing.

One time we went over Fitzroy Crossing in a truck, the road was flooded and we had to drive over the railway bridge , but we had to wait for a train to go past first, pretty sure it was Fitzroy may have been a bit lower, since it was a big ore train. Bit bumpy on them sleepers I remember , also a little scary!!!
I would love to venture back to broome one day ( maybe when I have a mate) As a kid I remember eating huge oysters off the rocks... and heaps of spent bullett shells on the beach... now they'd be collectors items... the amazing tuorqouise water... the pools of water in the dinasoar foot prints... and One new years day the chineese cemetry where the relatives take food and leave it at the grave as an offering to the dead... wonder if that still happens? There were corrugated huts on tall stilts in the water... I think that was called china town.... Bet that has all changed now... Guess I need to go see hey... Cheers all you lucky buggers who have been there recently... Mary
