Sitting here on tenterhooks ready to watch the grand final, hoping that Manly wins to make it a perfect weekend after Geelongs great win yesterday.

 

Now for my winge - WHY re they singing the NZ national anthem, it is not a contest between two countries but the grand final of the NRL

 Manly is playing the Auckland Warriors who are just another team in the NRL

Its because they usually sing the aussie anthem when 2 aussie teams play the final- this time its an international final - therefore 2 anthems.

I'm cheering ANY team other than Manly- go the mighty warriors !!!

Didn't they have the national anthem yesterday at the AFL? They were two Aussie teams. Today is one Aussie team and one NZ team so they would have both countries.

I have yet to meet anyone who can give me a logical reason for not liking Manly except for jealousy because they perceive that people that come from that area are all silvertails, which is all crap. OH! I come from working class Leichhardt

Its traditional - Newcastle can't stand Manly, never have, never will.

Nothing to do with silvertails

The anthem- once NZ were invited into the comp it became international. It makes no sense to play one anthem just because we were here first and we "own" the comp. That's ridiculous.

 It is a game in Australia between two teams in the Australian NRL, so only the Australian anthem needs to be played, as in all Australian sporting events

Watching it now - in Qld - no daylight saving so only 10 past 5 - good game - but prefer AFL myself - can't seem to get my head around this game up here - doesn't seem to make much sense to me, even tho I have it explained a few times - oh, well -

Who cares .... No Broncos ... 

Just watch the pro NSW bias ... 

At least VFL had the gumption to change the name .... we still have NRL  .. to me that is still Nsw RL..  Can't wait for the rugby league commission to break the parocial NSW domination of the game's administration.

 

Do I sound bitter!!!!!   Of course I am.  Won't barrack for Manly .. but can't support Kiwis.
