Ravenswood QLD

Gday...

I have just spent about a week camped at Fletchers Creek (Dalrymple Nat Pk north of Charters Towers - Camps6 285) which was a fantastic camp spot. The crowds have just about left the north and west of QLD now and camp spots are pretty deserted - my preferred outcome. Photo below.

I am presently sitting in the Ravenswood Showgrounds ($14/night - power, water, showers, toilet, shady trees - Camps6 281). Ravenswood is a lovely Heritage Listed old gold-mining town with some mining still occuring. The buildings and town have a quaintness that is captivating.

I had only planned to spend two days here, but my Landy has developed a big crack in the windscreen and I have to drive into Townsville tomorrow to have it fixed so I will leave the van here.

I will probably spend the weekend in Charters Towers re-stocking my pantry, doing domestic chores etc and then head down to Teresa Creek Dam, near Clermont (Camps6 426). I'll let you know what it is like.

Cheers

John
