No Computer!

I am on my first big trip in the holden motorhome, and guess what-I left my laptop behind!Shock, horror, withdrawal.....But then it occured to me that it might be a good thing. I am online too much.I am at Innisfail, at the library, and I am heading up the Palmerstone for a swim. Was at Jourama falls last night, lovely place, $5 a night with showers and toilets, recomended.Had a fuel vapour lock, but I  hopefully fixed it.Will stay somewhere on the tablelands tonight, and head to Cooktown tommorrow. Will Keep in touch. Bill

Does you good occasionally to be without your computer Bill. I left mine home last time too, felt good actually. You can become too reliant on them at times.

I wouldn't like to be without my laptop either. I bought it particularly so I could take the internet with me.

Slightly envious Bill....love the Tablelands!

Have a great trip!

Had another fuel line blockage at Mt Carbine, fixed I hope, then the bracket on the pop top broke. Not having a good day. At Cooktown at the moment and off to Archer pt tonight, Lions den , tommorow. Will try the Bloomsfield track, if open TO 2WD.See you soon, Bill

Bill. Was the pop top bracket on the inside or the outside. Did you get it fixed or replaced?? I'm looking to get some for my pop top to put on the outside as only have large hooks on the inside. Want that extra security, not sure where to find them though.

Safe travels Bill.
Will be interested to hear how the Bloomfield track is nowadays. Theres a couple of water crossings that are pretty ordinary, and a 1 in 3 slope on a hill. Get a detailed map from the Cape Tribulation store (Masons, I think)
It can be done by a wicked camper so you should be fine!

Has it ever been open to 2 wheel-drive Bill ?   I went over it just after it was completed, from the Bloomfield side.  I thought it was only 4 wheel-drive then, but my memory night be faulty.

Cheers,

Sheba.

It should be pretty dry at this time of year. It's many years ago for me, but we didn't need 4WD. We actually didn't need 4WD til the Telegraph Track,,one of those deep creek crossings. What an adventure that was! biggrin

Back from Cooktown, dramas. More fuel problems, 3 broken whell studs, electrical probs, I am glad to be home. Stuck at Mt Molloy for two days as I broke 3 wheel studs, and the courier only runs once a day. Rifle ck camp is lovely, and I caught 5 black bream in the creek, but there are some wierdos about. I am working on the car when a bloke asks me for a match. I replied I don,t smoke , and he says its to burn my car! Then he wouldn,t leave me alone. In the end I told him to f... off. Strange *******.The Bloomfield track is open to high clearance vehicle, and Archer pt is great but watch the dingos who come into your camp at night. Will take the Hiluxnext time.Bill

What a scary time that would be. What a weirdo. You are lucky he did what you told him to and didn't go get his own matches. Hope you got all the problems sorted Bill.

Being a 94kg ex boilermaker, makes you , normally, have no time , or worry, from idiots. This guy needs to do a course on how to meet friends and influence people. I can look after myself, but after a big terrorist, whoops, tourist , season, I have a short fuse with people who go out of there way to be negative. All in all , it was a good trip.I can do the repairs myself, which helps. Am looking at a slide on, a winnabego freeway.Only time will tell. Bill
