Texas

Could someone tell me please - when arriving in Texas (Qld) from NSW is the camping to the left or right after crossing the river? We will be arriving there either tomorrow or next day.  Please stop & say hi if in the area or passing.  Kettle, tea, coffee  are always ready.

Gday...

The free-camp at Texas on the river is on the right hand side as you cross the bridge from NSW - almost immediately after the bridge and before you enter Texas.

I nice big area with lots of grass and flat areas with some trees around ... take you time selecting a site and you will love it ... can get right down close to the river too if ya want.

Cheers

John

As rocklizard said just over the border 50 meters turn right. I haven't been there for about 10 years but it was good then.

Another more isolated camp spot is 20 km. further up the river at "The Bonshaw Weir." Might be worth a look but my info. there is old.

Southern side of the border right beside the water.  Good fishing up from the weir.

There are lots of good campsites all the way down the river to Goondiwindi, ask the locals and most will put you right.

In my experience the local policeperson is a great source of info. They know all the reserves and camping spots in their territory.

There has been some very severe damage from the floods earlier in the year and things have changed a lot.

My wife and I were down in that area recently and our usual camp site is

non existant.

Have Fun Haji-Baba

about 1/2 km from town on the left before you cross over the bridge, it is on the Texas side of the river, was there a few weeks ago, good site, shower, toilet and dump point in town.
