Arrived here at about lunch time on Friday and looked at the notice board to see what I could do this afternoon but the shortest walk nominated was to Hellfire Beach and suggested 3 hours hard walking each way. Looks like a walk for tomorrow morning, didn't like the sound of not making it back in the daylight. Walked up the beach for a couple of kms but the wind was really blowing hard so I gave up and returned to the camp site.

I have a secluded single site with a table & chair set up, all very cozy with excellent wind protection.

Back after the walk, wow that was something not just a hard walk there were posts ahead amongst the granite rocks and boulders with no laid out path. It is called a trail and it sure is, you see the markers and you make the trail. Took 3 hours to get to Hellfire Bay and again 3 hours to get back and towards the end my legs were cramping up from the uneven ground. Not the type of walk for a septuagenarian but made it and couldn't wait to have a solar shower and into the Deep Heat Rub.

Rugged yet beautiful. Harsh yet spectacular.
I'm sure it was worth the suffering. I didn't go down there when I travelled through that region.
The entire coast is magnificent.

Your third pic is the place of the only walk I have given up on. It is very steep bare rock with no shrubbery to catch you if you slip. photos do not show the steepness of I think it was called frenchmans peak?

Frenchman's Peak was on my to do list for Sunday whilst driving across to Lucky Bay but have pulled up sore from today's efforts so it might not happen.

Yup John you looked totally stuffed after that trek, but glad to see you recovering before I left today. Looking all ready to climb Frenchmen's Peak but that wind.. nearly blew me off the road a couple of times was gusting over 80 kmh hope you had enough shelter at Lucky Bay. Made it to Wagin. See you when you reach Geraldton

Yes it was good meeting up with Jo again and talking of Frenchman Peak I did get to tackle it on my way back from Lucky Bay, there is a stern warning as you start the walk/climb. The view from the top was worth the effort, it was not sunny and the overall view was not as clear as it could have been but I took one of the carpark with the van parked there.  JohnF+P6.JPGF+P2.JPGF+P.JPG

 My memory must be blurry. Now you have a photo of the peak I can see the difference.beautiful part of the country.

Beautiful place it is... I LOVE that area.. we stayed there too and I had a wonderful time taking photos... exploring and watching wildlife... when we are mobile its a place I'm heading back to :)
