I was asked to be in an art exhibition here so I put 3 items in to see what would happen.... 1 piece sold in the first 5 mins it was opened... then I was taken to one side to be introduced to our local member... he said he really liked my work!!!!
Well done, what a wonderful feeling. Congratulations. What sort of work do you do? I have done some oils but have always wanted to do water and pastel. They scare me a little. Oil is a little more forgiving I found. Good on you AmandaJayne. Tess.
Wow is right. Great work. Photos please. How many of us have always wanted to paint? Its amazing isn't it but only the creative ones get there. I go to all the art exhibitions I can and dream I could paint like that. But unfortunately haven't a creative or talented bone in my body.
oooo lovely wombat!!!! and yes Lilly it is a baby wombat :) I shall have to change my pic again to another bub.... as for the art exhibition, its for alsorts of art not just painting, which I have done very little .... I take photographs and I sketch.... you've seen some of the photos I've taken already but here are a few sketches... all a hobby I've played around with over the years....

That makes two of us.
For me, the best art work is one that looks like a photograph - a perfect representation of something physical. There are things that I like simply because they are clever in some way; a Dali painting that shows swans reflecting elephants or even a Van Gogh where the swirls of paint give the picture a texture that implies a 3D feel, but when I look at a lot of art I find that I simply don't understand it. Blue Poles is one that just seems to be ridiculously over rated for instance, and I have always regarded Jackson Pollock as rhyming slang for what I think of his work!
Anyway, rant over. I applaud your success, even though I don't understand what it is you actually do.
What an outcome! Good for you! That's the feeling I had when I first submitted my "news tip" to the ABC and heard it on the radio. Getting the payment was a bonus. The fact that someone wanted to read what I'd written and pay me for it was overwhelming to start with, and I still felt a little surge of pride when I heard my stuff on news bulletins or read it in the paper. I hope you eel that little surge of pride. Can you show us some of your work?
