We will be in Tassie during the Christmas/New Year holidays and was just wondering if anyone has knowledge of a nice place that we could camp up for the duration.
It really doesn't matter where as we have time on our side and if we know in advance then we can make a point of being there at the right time.
There are plenty of places in CAW6 which look OK but I tend to like first hand knowledge and experiences from those that have been there, done that, especially if it's for an extended stay.
We met a "mainlander" the other day and she was complaining that they were camping at Queenstown (on West Coast) and they went down to the shops on a Sunday morning at 10am and nobody was open.
I asked her what time of the year was that?
"November"
"Ha, now I know why nobody was open?"
"Why."
"You where too early, we don't open until January in Tasmania."
I would have suggested Queenstown as a hiding-place for the Christmas Hols Ma... nice quiet place, interesting railway history and not far from the coast. A few free-camps there. Maybe the locals could advise?
